Located at Bilpin, this beautiful campsite is nestled at the foot of the majestic Blue Mountains and backs onto Wollemi National Park. This magical 16 acres is abundant with wildlife and where you camp is the mouth to the beginning of some great hiking tracks in the National Park! There are a few great campsites to choose from- one at the top of the property (good for families/large groups up to approx 20) with good flat ground and surrounded by a lush forest. It's close to the road so it is easy access in and out, another two at the back with water views and one in the forest (If you have 4wd and portable loo we can give you an exclusive spot in the bottom of the golden gorge). Enjoy the sounds of the bubbling stream and see the sunset at the waterhole. Sit back and relax around the campfire whilst toasting a marshmallow or some damper. This campsite offers a unique heptagonal toilet (no shower yet but its on the way). Please ensure you're fully self sufficient with all other supplies (including water). From here you can explore the amazing Blue Mountain views, marvel at a magical glow worm dell, check out the 2 apple cider breweries and taste some of the region's delicious produce. Colo River is 30 mins away, a clear waterhole is 10 min drive ( 4wd only- hosts can transport if available), the mouth of a hiking trail to the National Park is on the property, the main township of Bilpin is close by with the baker, fruit and vege picking, Mountain Bells Cafe (host recommendation), apple pies galore and the restaurant , the markets are on Saturday morning 10-12 noon at the local hall and there is a free meditation group 9am Sunday at the monastery. With so much to do you will need more than one night or plan a return visit to the amazing Mountain Lagoon Hideaway at Bilpin! We can also offer massage and reiki treatments on site as a 'nature immersion' experience or if you prefer it can be in the privacy of a massage studio (10 mins away), guided nature and wildlife walks/sunset walks or longer hikes, professional ecology tours, fire twirling lessons or performance and African drumming lessons, games for the kids, local produce hampers, eggs and BBQS (with notice and if hosts are available). Please discuss with your hosts for further details and availability :) PLEASE ensure you read rules and safety as well as directions, because GPS will take you to the wrong property. The land is a nature retreat and developing animal rescue sanctuary so we love to share the space with respectful nature loving people :) Our motto is leave no trace. We look forward to welcoming you to our unique and magical slice of paradise! 🪵 IMPORTANT : Only use rock circles for fire. Fire must be put out if you 1) Leave the site each day 2) Each night before bed and 3) When you leave completely. IF THIS IS NOT DONE AND THE FIRE BRIGADE IS CALLED 'YOU ARE' RESPONSIBLE FOR THE 10K PLUS FINE. Neighbours have and will call the fire brigade if they see smoke. This is a strict policy due to being in a National Park and to protect the precious nature and wildlife. Two buckets of water are supplied for this purpose. Sticks in the buckets for animals to safely exit if they fall in. Whats App us with plenty of notice if you need more water. If it is hot weather or windy there may be a TOTAL FIRE ban. We will keep you posted and please be proactive and check online.

Accessible hideaway

Lovely property which is very convenient for all the area has to offer - 4x4 tracks down the Comleroy Road, swimming in the Colo river, cider and pizza at Hillbilly’s Cider or a fantastic lunch at Lochiel House. This site has easy access to all these places and more plus a very warm welcome and easygoing hosts who make you feel at home. Would recommend!

Felt very remote even though close

The directions to the site were very clear. Dannii and Adam are lovely hosts. Communication was clear and prompt. The ground was rustic, set amongst the trees with the beautiful sounds of nature completely surrounding you. Compost toilet was clean and did not smell. Dannii offers massage which we recommend. Also, take a dip in the dam/lagoon - it's very refreshing.

Mountain Lagoon Hideaway

Tidy, simple camping spot.

It’s a simple site that has some nice comfort features. The site is all dry bush scrub with no grass. And the camping areas are fairly heavily compacted ground. So make sure you bring a mallet and heavy duty pegs. Also a sleeping stretcher or a decent foam mattress, as there isn’t any lush grass to soften your sleep with just a thin foam roll out. Dannii & partner were very friendly and lovely to communicate with. The composting toilet was really handy & made camping that bit more comfortable. The washing up sink with rain water tubs and soap/hand wash provided was a lovely touch. The site is only 70 meters or so from the road in. Which despite being a dirty road still had a small amount of traffic in the eve and you could clearly make out cars & headlights. So it’s not super secluded for those looking to really get away. Would suggest having a car free for day trips into town or other hiking spots if you’re going to camp for multiple nights. For us we just stayed the 1 night and it was a great launching pad from Sydney to travel further west on subsequent nights. Overall it’s great what they are trying to build with the property, encouraging wildlife and native species to return. Thanks for having us share your space and being great caretakers of the land.

Mountain Lagoon Hideaway

We spent two nights at Mountain Lagoon Retreat whilst exploring the Blue Mountains. The property is a lovely bush block and has a great toilet that was easily accessible. For our campsite we were camped along a track with our camper trailer and felt quite enclosed. We could have set up in a spot with more room but less shade so it was a trade off. The listing mentioned a water hole suitable for swimming at most times of the year however there is no way we would have ventured in there. If you are looking for a good bush camp and don’t mind being close to the road you will enjoy it. We felt it was very expensive compared to other hipcamps we have stayed. As always it comes down to personal preference and we wouldn’t stay there again.

Nice spot but not cheap

Mixed feelings, first time using HiCamp, normally just go to national parks. Pretty expensive for what it is. 300$ for two night for 4 adults and 2 toddlers. Must have bent 10 plus pegs with tents and gazebo. Rock hard ground. Nice quiet spot with lots of nature and animals around, well kept etc and great you get your own little site. But as I said expensive

Had an amazing time at Mountain lagoon. Tent was spacious and clean. Loved sitting out looking at the view next to the fire pit. Great location, close to most attractions in bilpin. Would recommend staying here to relax and recharge.

Quiet, private and relaxing!

We really enjoyed Mountain Lagoon Hideaway. We stayed in our camper trailer at Kangaroo Camp which was narrow (multiple tents or trailers would have to be in a row), but had a lovely outlook on to the bush. There were other larger campsites that are better suited if you are in a group. The composting toilet was in a delightfully unique building, and was very clean with no smell. The water, soap, dry shampoo and hand lotion was a lovely touch, better than some AirBnB's we've visited! There are a number of dams where my kids had a great time trying to spot frogs and skipping stones. The camp was quiet and private. Adam came to say hello when we first arrived, which was lovely. After that, it was just us, the frogs, and the birds. Just what we needed! We did explore the property a bit, and then jumped in the car to go up the road a bit for a longer bushwalk. I'd recommend Mountain Lagoon Hideaway if you are looking for a quiet spot and you are keen to hang around camp amd just enjoy the peace.

Great secluded campsite

Lovely secluded area of the mountains, seemed particularly sheltered from the winds when we were there. Easy camping, with cute toilet facilities. Tip: camping is essentially on compacted ground, so bring heavy duty pegs and a mallet if you need to peg your tent well.

We enjoyed our weekend stay at this property. Super close to Sydney but far enough away. Spacious campsites, peace and quiet and the best toilet facilities we have seen. What more could you ask for. Great communication with Dannii. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Lovely group family camp site.

Lovely property, very beautiful camp sites. We travelled with 4 families and stayed on the largest site. We had plenty of room for our group and the children felt like it was their very own. Also was a great site for a variety of camp options as we had a mix of trailers, vans and tents. Other sites were far away so it was great to feel we had private space.

Lovely, peaceful site. Just off a dirt road, but very quiet. Clearly marked firepits & wood available to buy at checkout. The mulch toilet was a revelation - works a charm. We loved camping here.

Immersed in nature

Danni and Adam's bush property was everything you could want from a trip away from the city. Peaceful, private and and deeply immersed in nature. We enjoyed beautiful walks on the property and nearby national park, sitting by the fire and having a chat with Danni and Adam. Would highly highly recommend and we are super keen to come back!

The location is easy to find and the site is well kept, dry and very shady (which would have been perfect for a summer trip). Adam brought us a lot of firewood as well as kindling to help keep us warm during the cold May nights and he shared some local tips with us. We brought our own toilet, but the camp toilet on site was in great nick. The other camp sites are well spread out so there is no noise from other campers at all. We enjoyed local activities such as the Saturday market in Bilpin, fruit picking and hot cider tasting. Note that the campsite is close to an unsealed road, which is moderately busy, even at night. Aside from that, frogs and birds kept us company :)

Lovely spot in the Blue Mountains

We really enjoyed camping on Dannii's land. It is a lovely peaceful spot in a beautiful part of the world. Our campsite was quite near to the road but it is not a busy road and this did not bother us. Dannii and Adam are fantastic hosts, great communication and helpful when help required but not in your face. Best and cleanest composting toilet we have experienced. Highly recommended and we will likely return.

Beautiful property and amazing campsites. Amenities were so good for camping! Loved the nature sounds and would def need to spend at least 3 days there to soak it all in. Loved it, Dannii and Adam should be super proud. I’ll book for longer next time

My Daughters and I had a great time at this bush campsite. We had the whole site to ourselves. We mainly hung out at the campsite enjoying the campfire and small walks around the site. The firewood was good value, $30 for a good pile that could have lasted two days. Dannii was very helpful and easy to deal with.

Pretty nice place - spent 2 nights there. Toilet works and plenty of space between sites. Is a real bush site - so not much grass. Campsites are basically a dirt road which is fine, but worth knowing

We had a great time on Dannii's land. We camped at the orange possum site, which made us feel like VIP campers having our own entrance and exit out of the campsite. The location of this place is perfect for anyone who wants to set up camp and explore the surrounding area of Bilpin. The nightly musical concert of the wildlife around the dam area is a treat. Camp toilet was 5 stars quality, and a nice sink with clean water to washup was a bonus. It was also a pleasure to meet Dannii who made us feel very welcome.
