Firefly Meadows
Quiet, private getaway
We were looking for somewhere local to get away from our house. We wanted something private, quiet (and COVID safe/clean). We wanted to avoid people and we were alone the whole time we were there.
We stayed for 3 nights (Thursday through Sunday), and had a great time. The site is as described- the owner owns part of a larger parcel (which we had entirely to ourselves), 26 acres of the larger parcel. There are mowed paths cut around the property so we took walks with our dog.
The site was well-maintained and you can easily pull in and "car" camp. The owner had chairs, a picnic table, trashcan and fire roasting sticks for s'mores for us.
In terms of suggestions for a future camper, we purchased wood from a house right on Grange road, just north of M-21 (they had a small trailer out by the road, opposite side of the road from the site). We replenished ice in Fowler. The portajohn was clean (short walk from the site).
There is not a lot of shade on the site, so be prepared for that. The land is mostly wide open fields. We brought a pop-up canopy which worked great.
If you want to be busy, there is not a ton to do right in the area (which we knew because we are locals), so we brought lots of games, books, and activities. We just chilled out. Motz County Park is nearby - it has a beach, 5 miles of trails, picnic areas. The main Maple River State access point for trails is off US-127 (near Uncle Johns Cider mill), and we hiked through there one of the days.
We had a great trip. This was the perfect quiet getaway for us and our dog. We met the owner on the last day as we were leaving- he's a great guy who takes incredible pride in his property and offering his guests a great experience.

Wonderful site! Definitely will be going back. Got to listen to nature all day and night surrounded by fireflies at night. The sunset was beautiful. This campsite is exactly what we needed. It was clean, well set up and very private. Tom did an awesome job!

Firefly Meadows
Tom’s property was perfect for an after work camping trip that was only an hour away, but felt like it was very remote. The site was tidy and well maintained- Tom had all of the paths mowed short and included lots of extras like a shade canopy, chairs, and grill grate for the fire pit. Site #1 was situated on a frog pond so we were serenaded by toads and frogs all night- but that’s nature! The fireflies were magical and the stars were even better! We were able to easily drive into the site and will return to camp here again!
