Welcome to this magnificent pasture that offers a landscape adorned with luscious berries, towering trees, flowing streams, and diverse wildlife! You are conveniently located only 500 feet away from the grand Churning Rapids trail system entrance. This well-maintained network of trails, designed for hiking, running, and mountain biking, is overseen by the Keweenaw Land Trust. As you embark on your adventure, you will find a map at the entrance to guide you through the trail system.
There is a pasture located a quarter-mile away from an intentional living community known as Churning Rapids. We are the proud stewards and caretakers of this four-acre property. We have cultivated a thriving garden, raised chickens and other animals. Our efforts have enabled us to become more self-sufficient in terms of food and energy.
We are a group of people who are inclusive to all people. We believe that everyone has something to offer, regardless of their background or identity. We are committed to creating a safe and welcoming space for everyone, and we believe that kindness and respect are essential to building a strong community.
If you are to stay on our land, please maintain these same principles. We want everyone to feel comfortable and welcome in our group, and we ask that you treat others with the same kindness and respect that you would want to be treated with. This site is 500 feet from the Churning Rapids Trailhead, only 10 minutes from downtown Hancock, 12 minutes from downtown Houghton, and an hour from Copper Harbor! This site is a primitive grassland and has an open field and sporadic trees for shade and cover. This field is not regularly maintained, so you can pick and choose where is best to set up your camp. This field maintained by Churning Rapids Community.
The turn into the campsite is a tight 90°. Please message me with concerns on sizing. I recommend not bringing an RV or long trailer here.
There are no amenities in the field, also there is splotchy phone service in the field! You will have to carry in all your water and carry out all trash.
