Welcome to Rosy Goat Farm!! We are the quintessential family farm/homestead, our farmhouse was built in the 1840’s Bill and I bought this 15-acre property in 2012, It was overgrown with wild roses. We have worked with a limited budget, and used animals to clear the land. The goats love the roses, but they only eat the leaves. The pigs dig the roses up. Chickens rake it clean. Win win! Very interesting place here- lots to tell you, there’s quite a list of things to do and see around here! Did you know that Gilbertville has a covered bridge? It is one of the last covered bridges still in use in Massachusetts! First- a touch of History: Rev. Timothy Ruggles bought this land from the Native Americans for his family to live on, and work the land. His son, Brigadeer General Timothy Ruggles became unpopular after he introduced the Stamp Act, and was banished to Nova Scotia. His daughter Bathsheba became the first woman executed in the United States for the murder of her husband Joshua Spooner. (There’s a book about it called Murdered by his wife by Deborah Navas.) Want to know local eateries? For breakfasts and lunch there is The Whistle Stop diner, it was a former Boston & Albany Railroad station and now, The Mass Central Rail Trail runs through here; and Rose 32, a well known bakery that serves tea, coffee and sandwiches. There’s Hardwick house of Pizza- for tasty pizza and subs, which also serves beer. Feeling fancy? Try Hardwick Crossing Country Club (features a golf course), it has a restaurant with a full-service bar, gorgeous scenery! Its a 3 minute drive from here Mimi’s for your morning coffee and lunch, yum! Also check out Stone Cow Brewery in Barre -has a kids play area while you wait for your meal! Ware has Mexicali Grill, Theresa’s Restaurant for Italian foods, Hanna Devine’s for traditional American cuisine, and, Pig Park BBQ for comfort food! Farmer Mat in North Brookfield has take out meals- there are picnic tables available, beautiful views. Things to do: You can kayak, and fish, at Swift River in Belchertown. Hardwick is the home of the oldest agricultural fair in the US, held every year in August, and, every Sunday there’s a small farmers market on the common. Hardwick also has a winery- Hardwick Vineyard and Winery, and, check out Lost Towns brewery- the name is a throwback to the 4 towns that were submerged to create the Quabbin Reservoir! Medicine River Pow Wow is In August here in Gilbertville. River Run. The East Quabbin Land Trust has birdwatching and fabulous views, and the Central Mass Bike trail entrance is located here. Bike it or hike it! Quabbin Reservoir is close by for boating and fishing. There are free concerts in Grenville Park in Ware, (check for dates). Ware also has Janine’s Frostee ice cream and fast foods- and live music on weekend nights! Also check out these on line: Ragged Hill orchard and Rock House Reservation in West Brookfield, and Carter and Stevens farm in Barre, and the Leicester, and Mendon movie drive-in’s. Old Sturbridge village is 30 minutes away. Lake Siog in Holland has a lovely picnic area and beach for swimming. (30 mins South from here) Isn’t this area great or what?!

A first-time family camping trip!
this was a gift I gave to my daughter and her family - their first time in a tent; THEY LOVED IT! My two-and-a-half year old grandson was smiling the whole time. The animals, the walking trails, the campfire, and the whole experience was well suited a special family overnight. No doubt they will be taking more trips of the sort! Thank you, Trisha!

Camping with animals and a view!
Rosy Goat Farm offers a beautiful, peaceful setting. We stayed one night with our camper van and found the site to be well maintained with amazing views. Trisha was also very accommodating to our schedule. Loved the goats and the friendly pig! We definitely recommend a stay here.

We had a very nice camp on the backside of the farm. The site felt private, but there is also interesting visitors (geese and ducks). The outhouse was quite clean, and the water spigot was cold and refreshing. The site is accurate to its description. I'd recommend camping here.

Humble and quaint farm camping
A wonderful stay on this humble and quaint farm. Welcoming animals with a wide array of personalities, and even more welcoming hosts. Trisha and her family have cultivated a truly magical home and continue to put real love and hard work into making it a little quiet sanctuary. Would come back to visit as many times as we are allowed!

Outstanding farm experience!
This is my second time at Follow Your Muse Hipcamp. I cannot recommend it enough! Trisha is an extremely kind, interesting, knowledgeable person about all sorts of things especially small farm living. I always learn so much and gain a greater appreciation of our climate concerns and alternative lifestyles. I brought my sister with me this time so she could experience this fantastic Hipcamp. We minivan camp under the big beautiful walnut tree which is fine to drive back to and level. Very nice clean outhouse, fire ring with grill, hammock. All the farm animals are awesome. Make sure to sign up for farm chores and buy her fresh eggs. I am so glad I returned here my sister loved it! We will be back asap. I have enjoyed the farm in summer and fall👍🍁🚙🏞👭🏻🍂🎃👍 Must give a shout out to Mi Mi’s Cafe in Hardwick that Trish recommended. The Hardwick Honey breakfast sandwich is absolutely the best and the coffee is great!!

Camping at a farm!
I loved Camping here. Nice relaxing weekend with our son who’s 1.5 years old. Our hosts were super nice and informative. A real farm stay. We did the farm activity and really enjoyed going around to feed the animals. The outhouse was super clean which was a nice surprise, considering it’s an outhouse. The spot to tent was private but close to the parking spot, the outhouse and animals. Not a bad drive from the city. Can’t wait to visit again!

This was a great spot! Directions were easy to follow and the camp site was great for the two tents we had. We loved the duck brigade that visited, and seeing the goats/pigs/geese. Next time we will pick a few days without torrential rain!

‘Find Your Muse’ Camping
Lovely property with lovely hosts and sweet, friendly animals! The property is green and plush, with gorgeous flowers and plants surrounding. The animals roam free on the property, except for the goats (baby goats!) and pigs. But, you can say hi, give a pet, and marvel in their sweetness. I have a Jeep with a tent on top and it was perfect for the camping space provided. Green grass area with trees surrounding-- not 100% flat, but no where ever is for a rooftop tent. Clean, open, very private. There is a picnic table that is very useful, awesome fire pit with swivel grate, and an incredibly well constructed composting toilet outhouse-- complete with a few humorous signs to view while sitting. There is a very short trail on their property, and the road to the farm is great for walking in the evening-- charming cemetery down the road. So many birds chirping and flying about and I wasn't bothered by too many bugs. Great hammock to relax in and read. The energy on the farm is so positive and calming. Owners are GREAT people-- hard working, inventive, thoughtful, and with a fantastic sense of humor. I had some port with them by the fire under the stars. Highly recommended, especially for a solo traveler. Would book again for sure!

Terrific camping experience
Had a fabulous weekend camping at Trisha's with our three kids. Trisha was a gracious, friendly host. We had plenty of room to spread out on the spacious campsite, but the site also affords lots of privacy. The water spigot worked great for meeting our water needs. Best of all was having all the animals around. We definitely will return.

Sooo quiet
This was such a lovely experience! My daughter and I went for 3 nights, and it was such a nice, quiet and gentle stay. Trisha and Bill were super friendly and helped out with all our questions. My daughter loved going to see and feed the animals, and we learned a lot about life on the farm. We ate so many chicken and ducks eggs! The outhouse was very clean. No shower (yet) but with so much privacy it was easy to take a bucket shower at the end of the day. Most of all: so very quiet! Thanks for a lovely stay Trisha and Bill.

Fun camping with goats!
This was possibly my single best camping experience ever! The site is in a beautiful grassy area, private, and has everything you could need. Trish does a great job setting it all up and keeping everything looking great. The kids (and adults) loved the farm tour and just walking around petting the animals anytime. She was also very helpful with hiking and swimming recommendations. It was an incredible stay, we’ll be there again!

Magical Camping
We loved staying at Tricia and Bill’s campsite. It was so lush and green and very private. There were birds singing to us during the afternoon and fireflies putting on a show every night. They were so kind to us and the farm fresh eggs were delicious! I would recommend and definitely stay there again!

Best first camping trip!
This was the absolute best place I could have picked to take my daughter on her first camping trip. The spot is at the back of the farm, spacious, private, but close enough to the animals and water to be fun and convenient. My daughter absolutely loved visiting the pigs! The outhouse was close by and nicer than almost any public bathroom I’ve ever used - my daughter was obsessed, especially when the solar fairy lights turned on at dark. The site had everything we needed - shaded spot for our tent, convenient place to park, fire pit with a swiveling cooking grate, open space for my daughter to run around, a hammock (also with fairy lights!) and hidden fairy doors for my daughter to try to find. Trisha was a wonderful host, giving us space and privacy while also being easy to reach if needed. She went out of her way to make this an enjoyable experience for us, especially for my daughter. We did the farm tour in the morning and it was so fun to see all the animals, learn about their morning routines, and my daughter got to help with feeding. We also got to hold a very soft and adorable duckling! We purchased our firewood from Trisha and one bundle was enough for us to cook dinner and have a small fire until we went to bed. Next time, I’d probably consider a second bundle. Nighttime was beautiful - we could clearly see the stars and saw many lightning bugs!

Great tenting on the farm!
Trisha's land was a nice, quiet camping experience. We had access to an old picnic table and a nice fire pit. The area to camp in was very clear and pleasant, though it was a bit sloped. The potable water was very good to drink and easy to access. The property is loaded with tons of farm animals and it was a fun experience to occasionally have our campsite visited by geese and ducks. Trisha was super amenable, and even provided a wash basin and some dish soap to help me out when I came unprepared to clean my camp cookware. All in all, I'd highly recommend staying at this property in the future to anyone who loves tenting and farm life :)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Upon arrival, Trisha immediately made us feel at home and showed us where we could set up our tent. She also was gracious enough to introduce us to the various farm animals and we got to watch her feed the pigs. She even gave our son something to make the fire turn colors, which he loved. As we were leaving, we asked our son where his favorite place to camp has been so far, and without hesitation, he said that Rosy Goat Farm was his favorite. Thanks Trisha for your hospitality! We had a great time!
