The Borestone Bungalow offers a convenient location to nearby hiking of the 100 mile wilderness on the Appalachian Trail, Borestone Mountain and Barren Mountain. The location is also within a mile to Big Wilson Stream and falls, great for anglers, kayakers and canoers. The camp is close to Monson and within 30 minutes to Greenville. Bring your ATV or snowmobile, as the trails begin at the cabin with trail access to the famous Onawa Trestle. The 300 square foot cabin offers solar power, sleeping for 3, a screen house and an out house. Bounded by a mountain stream on one side of the property makes fetching water easy and adventurous. The outhouse offers a double hole for increased bonding time. Enjoy the Borestone Bungalow at the very heal of the iconic Borestone Mountain and enjoy all that the unique township of Elliotsville has to offer.Escape to the Maine woods in this cozy, handcrafted off-grid cabin, conveniently located within walking distance of the Borestone Mountain trailhead and close to some of the region’s best hiking, paddling, fishing, and outdoor adventures. The cabin features a propane stove, gas grill, indoor and outdoor sinks, solar power, and limited Wi-Fi. There is no running water on site—guests must bring water or obtain it from the nearby river. Solar power and Wi-Fi depend on available sunlight, and a propane light is available when needed. Campers are expected to bring their own sleeping bag or bedding, take their trash and to keep costs down by cleaning the areas used before leaving. Relax in the screened-in porch, enjoy the peaceful woods, or gather around the outdoor fire pit with Adirondack chairs. Nearby attractions include Barren Mountain, Little Wilson Falls, Onawa Lake, Onawa Trestle, and the 100-Mile Wilderness. Monson is about 7 miles away and Greenville about 20 miles. Rustic, peaceful, and authentically Maine—perfect for those looking to unplug, explore, and enjoy the North Woods.

Exceeded my expectations
Borestone Bungalow
Had the most relaxing weekend away at this little cabin. I stayed for two nights but wish I could have stayed longer. With borestone mountain, little Wilson falls and ATV trails so close you don’t have to travel far for an adventure and Monson is an adorable little town to visit. Everything was so clean and kept up, the outhouse was the nicest I’d ever seen, even decorated! Great place to enjoy a book, some music, a fire, peace and quiet, or even a place to telework somewhere new with very good wifi. I was only my own but it would also be a great spot for a couple of small family. I will definitely be adding this to my list of places to return to.
