Forty five years ago, our family started assembling 400 acres of woods and fields on the banks of the beautiful Androscoggin River. We enjoy actively managing the property for wildlife habitat and tree growth. The diverse landscape includes over 1/2 a mile of river frontage, a 10 acre wildlife pond, rolling hills in the meadows and steep forested terrain with more than 10 miles of multi-use trails running throughout. Our lands have long been open to local hikers, bikers and cross country skiers, we are excited to share this beautiful property with a larger community. Scout for wildlife and birds, on our private 400 acres of forests and fields. Tire yourself by hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, or cross country skiing the 10 miles of private trails.  Located across the river from Riverlands State Park, just minutes from Lewiston-Auburn, Bates College, local breweries and just 2 1/2 hours from Boston. Wildlife abounds both on the property and across the river at Androscoggin Riverlands State Park. Quite often, a gentle breeze off the water will offer relief from black flies and mosquitoes, but the right bug repellent is recommended especially to fend off those pesky ticks that are so common in Maine.

Site 3 - Slippery Rock Riverbank Tent Sites
River breezes and bountiful views
This is a very special spot. John and his family have clearly dedicated their lives to conservation of this land. We were there with young kids during a massive heat wave. Being able to float in the water, just off the site, was critical to us keeping cool and having a successful trip (which we did!) The view and breezes off the river were a treat. As was having such privacy and feeling cocooned within such a large piece of land. And bonus, especially with children - is that despite being private and remote, the land does have access to civilization - there is a full grocery store and hardware store 10 minutes down the road. Access to ice ended up being critical due to the heat and so we were particularly grateful for this! Worth noting that site 3 had plenty of space for our two large families. Loved the bird sightings. Highly recommend.

Site 1 - Slippery Rock Riverbank Tent Sites
If you’re looking for a beautiful, well kept tent site, this is the place to be. Just steps away from the meadow and river with gorgeous views. Spacious and flat tent site with a fire pit and porta-potty. There are also canoes and kayaks to rent out for a fair price too!

Slippery Rock Tiny Cabin
Wonderful weekend!
We had an incredible stay at Slippery Rock, and we are already dreaming of when we will be able to go back. Our group of three families rented Sites 1, 2, and the cabin. Because the cabin is set a bit away from the tent sites, we ended up not using it at all, and spent most of our time in the shade and river breeze of site 1. John was a wonderful host, meeting us at the site upon our arrival, and we honestly could not have picked a more beautiful spot to be! Our kids alternated between swimming in the river and playing capture the flag across the expansive property. There was ample access to firewood, and even a clean and convenient Portapotty. Highly recommend to anyone seeking a beautiful getaway.

Canvas Tent @ Slippery Rock Trail
Beautiful location right on the river. Cooled off swimming and floating. John provided water, camp stove and propane. Bed was comfortable. Truly peaceful, relaxing, private and a short drive to stores and restaurants. While we were there it was buggy so a mosquito net for bed was an easy fix. John was responsive and friendly. I'm for sure coming back!

Site 3 - Slippery Rock Riverbank Tent Sites
Amazing option for a getaway
SUCH a beautiful spot…words can’t describe. We saw two bald eagles and many more amazing creatures during our two night stay. Site three was perfect with water access and a lot of sunshine and shade in the afternoon. Pat was so kind and generous with their land - there are trails and hiking throughout the area. And an added bonus - the Porto potty was the cleanest one I’ve ever seen in my life :) We highly recommend staying here! We will definitely be back!

Unbeatable
John and Pat’s land is beautiful. They were so welcoming and are some of the kindest, most pleasant people I’ve come across in some time. The site is very private and beautifully situated along the Androscoggin River. It’s been a while since I’ve felt as at peace at a campsite as I did here. I will be back!
