Sadly, our stay didn’t live up to expectations after hearing great things. As an artist and designer in architecture, I hoped to meet and chat with the owners, but unlike the very kind guests, there wasn’t a warm welcome from the hosts.
There were things we enjoyed—especially for the kids. They loved the basketball setup, the playground, and seeing all the animals up close, especially the tiny pigs.
A bulletin board with a map and info was on-site, but it would have been helpful to have that ahead of time or on the listing. I didn’t realize tents were already set up, which would have allowed more friends to join. We were told it was dispersed camping, but it'd be nice to reserve a general area.
Our campsites was right next to the horse stables, and the ground was covered in manure. While it’s an animal sanctuary, this seemed to be the only spot affected; other areas were much cleaner.
There is only one shared bathroom in the main home, which means waiting for other guests. It was mostly clean, but at one point there was no toilet paper, and the ceiling was covered in spider webs.
We also noticed guests struggling to find the electrical outlet in the dark with only a vague description, asking for help from us to locate.
With the animals, expect a very close experience—a dog may pee on your tent, a pig might nip unprovoked, or a goat may tangle itself in your hammock.
Overall, more information, a different campsite, and a warmer welcome would have made a huge difference.
