Comfortable bed, beautiful view, very remote. David was a great host! Very friendly! Everything worked as described. The stars were beautiful and the sky was vast. Great place to stay if you're not scared of a little off-roading and "roughing it"!

Nice remote comfortable place. Strongly recommend a high clearance vehicle, especially to go to the green beach at the end of road, beautiful and worth the bumpy ride.

Super welcoming Host! Totally remote out of space place in the middle of lava field. Cozy coco hut. Every thing was the way Debbie described. The views and star gazing was extraordinary. Clear directions. We can totally recommend this place.

We had a great time at this unique place! The bed was large and comfortable. Debbie was warm and welcoming. The outdoor shower was fantastic. You need an SUV with good clearance or a truck to get here. Do not drive a car! We would book again if back on the island.

My finance and I stayed in the coco hut for a few days and while we were visiting the island. We had such a wonderful and amazing time. The description had mentioned to get a vehicle that would be able to handle the rough terrain. We were able to visit the green Sand Beach down the road along with the tide pool. Not only were both of the host amazing and so welcoming but the location was also beautiful and quiet. The outdoor kitchen was a lot of fun to use while cooking out. I would definitely recommend this to many friends and it will 100% be coming back when we visit again. Fun fact, we became engaged during this trip, which will make it a memorable experience for me for my entire life. The bed was extremely comfortable and the sound of the coqui frogs provided a peaceful night of sleeping every night. The stars that you see out here are absolutely amazing. Thank you again for the wonderful stay, and we will see you again.

I can't wait to return! The yurt was very cozy, the bed itself was very comfortable. The decorations and amenities where perfect for that Hawaiian home feel! The outdoor shower was so refreshing with plenty of super hot water. I will be returning with friends for a retreat. I love south point and this location and host made the trip even better. Enjoy a private yurt with a view, bring some food and watch the sunset!

Very private and secluded area. We felt like we were the only ones on the island. Just down the road there’s a beautiful beach and a very amazing tide pool like I’ve never seen on any of the islands. The coffee station was amazing and very well kept. The room had everything we need and a little bit more played dice all night and talked story. The solar lighting was never an issue, and it was plenty of power to power, our phones and the lights even though we had very little sun while we were there. the showers and bathrooms were charming, a little tricky but once we figured them out it was easy Peezy. Dave was amazing and was helpful in every way he could be, and also had some amazing story to talk as well. The road was a little rough but if you take it slow in any vehicle, I feel it would be manageable four-wheel-drive or not however, if you’re not comfortable , I would definitely recommend a four-wheel-drive vehicle. Best part was waking up in the morning the birds were incredible with several species of several generations , also there were no coqui fogs to be heard at night! Not only will I recommend staying here, I cannot wait to go back great place to decompress and be off grid! Also good place to stay if you’re planning on seeing a show at Tiki mamas, which is at the end of the road or at the 11 which is about 15 minutes away.

Such An amazing place, Debbie was so kind to me she shared some place for me to visit, the hike to the beach is amazing and so scenic, private black sand beach was such a treat, as for the hike it is pretty rocky and extensive feels flat till you head back then you relise it’s all up hill. Still had an amazing time and can’t thank Debbie and David enough such kind and outgoing people

Our stay at the Coco hut was amazing! We talked a bunch with one of the owners, David, who gave us some amazing advice for making the most of our time on Big Island since we’re from out of town. We rented a Jeep Wrangler, so we were able to make it down the road to the sea to the black and green sand beach. You can’t miss this. It was incredible and very private (we were the only people there). It made an otherwise frustrating trip (we were affected by the Kona airport closing at the very time we were intended to land and were re-routed back to Honolulu, effectively taking 2 days of vacation away from us) so worth it. The hut itself is wonderfully decorated and the outdoor shower is amazing. The bathroom is lovely particularly given how remote the property is - I wasn’t expecting such nice facilities! I would probably advise that anyone looking at this place book a Jeep or other high-clearance vehicle because you’re already a mile down the road - you might as well go the whole way and truly appreciate the incredible land that this property is on/adjacent to. It’s the sort of place us Ohioans fantasize about but never thought we could actually go to.

Coco Hut- Road to the Sea
We loved our time in the Coco Hut! The space was perfect and cozy for our family of 4 and felt so easy compared to tent camping. The kitchen was well stocked and the bathrooms and warm showers were nice! Despite a little rain the kids had a great time exploring the ‘aina, collecting firewood and building fire. The Road to the Sea was very bumpy, but well worth it to play on the beach and swim in a beautiful deep ride pool. We will definitely be back!

What an amazing stay! It felt so isolated and quiet it was Iike no other place we’ve been to. All the accommodations were exactly as expected and couldn’t complain at all! We even walked down to the green sand beach, it’s a tough one but well worth it. Thank you 🌈

The hut itself, host and bathroom we perfect. A small table could be useful besides the bedside one. We ended up eating in our room and didn't want to make a mess. The raw beauty of the place is obviously incredible!
The downside was two fold; the road there is mentioned in the ad as '4x4 useful but not mandatory' that really needs to be changed. We didn't have a 4x4, we had a missing car. That poor car and our guts and brains rattling around. Its 1.3 miles of terrible riverbed road. It took us 15 minutes ones way every time. There is nothing to do there, and that's OK. But I didn't want to leave (or go back if we did) because of that road. It shook us up so bad I got seasick/carsick/1.3 miles road sick the few times we did go back or forth. Yes, it's 'safer' there because no sane (?) Criminal would make the effort. The other thing was that the raw lava rock is NOT friendly. Going to the bathroom 30 feet away in the dark took headlamps and flashlights and RUNNERS. I'm a barefoot girl, not a princess but don't want to roll my ankle or cut my feet when I need to use the facilities walking on loose grapefruit size sharp lava.
Again being IN the hut was perfect, so comfy. Clean and inviting. But we were antsy to leave and bummed we were there 2 days with that road in between us and adventure.

Get your 4WD ready and come to stay at this peaceful coconut cabin! The cabin itself has everything (nice comfy bed, couch, extra bed, little generator to charge small electronics). We slept 4 people comfortably. Restroom was clean and well taken care. Hot shower was nice after our long day adventure.
Debbie is very responsive and always make sure that you have a good time during your stay. She also recommended local places to eat.
We didn’t get to go to the green sand beach but the host is so thoughtful to have some green sand for us to view in the room. My kids were so excited.
Thank you Debbie for such a wonderful time. We will be back :)

Me and my husband enjoyed our night's sleep immensely at Debbie's Coco Hut at the Road to the Sea. The night air was cool and refreshing and lulled us to sleep. The ocean views were beautiful. Our ride in was real bumpity bump, but because we live on the island, we are accustomed to traveling those types of roads. Our host, Debbie, was super responsive and gave excellent directions to her campsite. We also appreciate and thank Esti, the onsite host, for all of her help and welcoming demeanor. We hope to stay in touch with both Debbie and Esti! Aloha, y'all!

Definitely need a car with clearance! The road going in is rough. But once you get there it's beautiful. Lovely clean cottage with plenty of space and an extra single bed. We had some bright green lizard friends visit us but no bugs. Beautiful sunsets and we met Esti and her 3 dogs who was lovely and a new friend <3

The cabin was clean and spacious and the bed could even be split in two which suited us perfectly, a mother and daughter team.
Estie was the prefect host. By the end of our stay we were best friends. The nights were peaceful as the geckos gently sang us to sleep.
The road into the property was rough and really did need a 4wd although our AWD made it fine.
The "outdoor" shower is one of my favourite things. It reminds me of my stay in the hills of Bali. The weather was less humid in cocohut than other areas of Big island but it had a great view of the ocean. I'd go back.

This was a cute cabin that afforded us to have a respite front our tent, loved the hot showers and the spacious room. The bed was very comfortable and breeze through the room was delightful. We had a nice long walk to the water but definitely worth it, if you had 4x4 drive then you could make it down in a vehicle. Beautiful views of the night sky and loved the sunsets. The host was a wonderful host, and had hot coffee ready for us on our frist morning.

It’s a remote and quiet place with a beautiful sky and very comfortable huts. Bathroom was very clean and with all the necessary staffs. However, the way to arrive is a challenge (a lot of rocks).
We arrived on the night and we didn’t find anybody to welcomed us. We didn’t have Internet, so it was a little bit confusing.

Very unique experience with great views and accommodation. Debbie came through at the last minute for us when other lodging fell through.
The road down to the beach is totally worth it but does require AWD and clearance.

I liked the remote and peaceful feeling of the Cocohut, which was also cosy and comfortable. Nice hosts, too. About the road - I made it down there in a LEAF but it did bottom out a couple of times. Definitely recommend something with higher clearance than that.
