Fine, just a parking spot. Other stuff from the photos is just garbage.
Advice: Doesn't make sense to drive all the way down as you can stay for less at the Volcano House park campsite and with facilities.

We actually went out to get snacks and never went back. The platform where you’re supposed to sleep was rotten. My son put his foot through it within 5 min of our arrival. The pictures of the bathroom and shower facility aren’t accurate. The weeds were so tall around the doors, and there wasn’t even a path to them. It was nothing that 15 minutes with a weedeater couldn’t have fixed. There was trash and tools laying everywhere. There was no driveway really or any place to park except a giant mud hole that I almost didn’t get out of in a four-wheel-drive jeep. I took me two hours to find the place because the address given didn’t show up on my GPS. BUT Zachary was very friendly and helpful and responded quickly to my texts. If you’re looking for an inexpensive out-of-the-way experience where you can start a fire and hang out with your buddies, this might be perfect. But it was more than what I was expecting.

Tent camping in bamboo structure
Bamboo-structure was helpful against the wet weather up there. Zachary was really nice and helpful. Informations were clear. Driveway was still in the making, so a little muddy, but a close spot to get to the volcanoes national park.

I am a total sucker for raised platforms for tents. A covered raised platform??? Even better!!! Seriously though, this place has an amazing (and completely legitimate) off-grid feel with dark nights and a quiet road to get there. Zachary was an awesome host who greeted me and showed me around and even took time out of his night to introduce me to his ducks!!!! It was already perfect, but then ducks on top of that???? I would stay here again in a heartbeat

The host Zachary made sure we felt welcomed and showed us the lay of the land.
Camp setup is on a platform off the ground and covered to keep you dry while setting up camp and cooking. It also provided shade over the tent in the morning. Table with a double burner stove provided.
Has bathroom facility and showers.
Property is gorgeous. It was wonderful falling asleep and waking up to the sounds of the fern forest.
Zachary and his wife are developing their land as a farm that blends right into the landscape and they seem to have made great progress. Their ducks are friendly and their chayote squash are tasty :)
Definitely love supporting their goals and would love to stay there again.

This host is the absolute BEST. He was super flexible with our arrival/departure time, very communicative, and made finding the site easy. The best part was that he had a blazing campfire ready for us upon arrival!!! A totally pleasant surprise! We had plenty of privacy with the campsite and it was perfect for a quick overnight trip to Kilauea. I highly highly recommend staying here if you get the chance!

Zachary was great!! From directions, to standing at the end of the driveway with flashlights for us to see it, to making us an amazing fire. Has a very secluded off the main path area. Bathroom (indoor) and Shower(outdoor) have hot water. Tent and platform are great. Had some rain the night we stayed and we stayed completely dry! Def would stay again 😁

Perfect! Close to vulcano NP. Campspot itself has everything you need (flushing toilet, nice outdoor hot shower, drinkwater, and even a stove). A big bonus was the sheltered platform for the tent, so you can stay out of the mud and dry.
Spot was a bit hard to find, but Zachary put a lot of effort in to make it visible and as easy as possible :). The path to the toilet and tentsite is a bit rocky and mudy, but that's not very surprising in a rainforest :).
Definitely worth the money. Would 100% recommend.

What a great camping structure! No matter the rain pattern we and our tent stayed dry. All facilities expected, bathroom, sink, hot water and shower, gas with stove and water. Zachary also has duck eggs!!! which was a part of almost every breakfast for us. If you are trying to camp in Hawaii and see all the natural wonders of the island, look no further than Zachary’s hipcamp!

Awesome spot! Only for true backbackpackers. If you want to experience Hawaii like the true locals, stay here. For the rest, enjoy your margaritas by the pool. Thanks again for the experience!

Very nice spot to camp for the night at a great price. Arrived after sundown and Zachary came out to show me where to park and the bathroom/shower situation which was actually better than expected. Spot had some good privacy and not difficult to reach

This camp is very rustic in the beautiful Hawaii jungle near the volcano. Good for the price & Zach is a super nice guy. The spot is just a driveway to pull into with not much flat area other than that but improvements are obviously being made. It now has a flushing toilet & outdoor shower which is nice. It was a little hard to find & spot didn’t really look like the photos. Look for a small house with a mural on the side & a sign that says tractor service in English (did not see a sign with Hawaiian words on it) as pretty much most all properties there have banana trees & passion fruit vines, that call out in the directions didn’t make it easier to find. If you’re looking for a simple place to park close to volcano then this place is perfect for you.

Nice property very close to national park. Zach is a friendly host who has put a lot of work into his space, and the bamboo structure is AWESOME. camping in the rainforest in rainy season anywhere else could have been rough, but was fun and a breeze here. Would come again

The location of the site is pretty good too, like 20 min drive to the national park.

Zachary was a great host. Providing a lifted platform for camping was so ideal to keep elevated during a rainy night of camping in a rain forest and avoid the mud trail in our tent. Would definitely recommend this spot.

In spite of the rainy weather, the tent platform was large and easy to set up on, and Zachary went out of his way to make us comfortable! We stayed overnight to catch the views of Kilauea’s eruption, and it was the perfect location to get to the park easily. Thanks Zachary!

The platform was perfect for a quick overnight stay as we headed toward Volcanoes Nat’l Park which is 20 mins away. Directions on google mao led us right there, and we saw the platform from the road so no problem. If you have a car rental without 4x4 you should still be able to get in, we just didn’t go that far. Sorry to miss Zach, looks like he’s got an awesome project started, best if luck!! If you’re just looking to crash somewhere super quiet and on a budget, no frills, this is perfect! Thank you!!

Tent camping in bamboo structure
This camp site worked out great. Having a nice level area to set up camp makes life so much easier, especially since our tent idea 10'x14'. Beautiful Ohia trees and ferns everywhere but it is wet so having a nice platform up of the ground makes all the difference. The only criticism i have was the lack of stairs. We just used our cooler as a step so no worries.
Zach was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. He even brought us a bunch of wood for a fire. We ended up not using it because we got back to camp late and were pooped from hiking at the park and Judy needed sleep. Thank you so much anyway Zach. It's a beautiful place you have there and thanks for sharing it with us.
