Learn more about this land: Pull off the highway into this easily accessible pull-through site and be transported from the city to the country where you will have views of a pasture that forms the head water of a tributary of the Santa Clara River. The pasture is also home to a flock of California's State bird, the Quail, and the state flower (with enough rain), the Poppy. You may also see coyote and roadrunner visiting the pasture on occasion as well. A pair of nesting Hawks can also be spotted in the transmission tower in the distance, or soaring above the pasture. Enjoy the night time silence interjected with the howl of a coyote or the hoot of an owl. This site is ideal for an overnight stay for roadtrippers, or for those looking for a home base to tour Southern California. Make sure you let them know I sent you. You will recognize the restaurant - it’s been in almost everything it seems in the last 30 years. From Cindy Crawford’s iconic Pepsi commercial decades ago to movies including Top Gun Maverick, the food is an additional treat. Hike and Stargaze at Vasquez Rocks State Park also a short drive away. Another site for films, it’s also gorgeous! Both these locations are Instagram ready and offer undeniable photographic opportunities as you take a step back in time. Come stay awhile!
