Yurt Camping under Sis-Q Stars
Tom and Jan were so friendly and welcoming. We had a great stay in the yurt, really enjoyed the landscape (especially nearby river swimming holes), the brief flurry of bats at twilight, and an immense night sky.

I loved visiting Tom and Jan's farm! The Klamath National Forest is such a hidden gem. The mountains surrounding the property are beautiful and so peaceful.
The property itself has everything you need, Just a short walk away from the yurt and campsites, there is a full bathroom, showers, and large tub sinks.
The yurt is a great DIY project thanks to their son - it's unique style definitely isn't store bought and more comfortable than other yurts I've been in. It rained the night I visited and the yurt stayed dry and warm throughout the night. There is also a screen so you can leave the thicker wall layer open on a warmer night. You get a comfy bed and clean sheets, but take extra blankets and pillows.
There is also a bench and extra chairs for seating. Cook on the stone table rather than the plastic table to help everything last longer. On a clear night, definitely plan for a campfire.
The real beauty of the farm is the family history. You can feel how much love has been poured into the property over the years. From the various farm animals (rescued horses, farm pups, a roaming cat, chickens), to the garden, lake, and abandoned bus. Ask Jan for some stories - she has plenty! Jan and Tom were so welcoming, sharing their stories and showing me around the farm.

Tom and Jan are beautiful people; extremely gracious and friendly. Their dogs and cats are just as friendly and amazing. There is very little light pollution there thanks in part to Jan's advocacy. Got to see the space station and a sky packed full of stars. I loved walking their property to the river and duck pond. So many hummingbirds, grouse (I think), woodpeckers, blackbirds, ducks, goldfinch, doves, and owls. I'll be back!

This was my second stay at Sis Q. This time, I got to see the Milky Way and it was amazing.
The Marsh Hawks and Red Tail Hawks hunting in the field just outside the gate were glorious. There must have been 2 dozen birds flying low over the road.
I highly recommend the Sis Q Ranch.

I had a wonderful night at the Sis Q Ranch. I went after reading other reviews about the night sky, and I was not disappointed. Even though the moon was nearly full, there were so many more stars in the sky than I can see at home.
Jan recommended a very good restaurant just up the road and I had a nice meal there. Jan also shared intersting facts about the local birds that were out in the afternoon.
Great stay. I'm going back in a week.

Beautiful area. The property has a lot going on. The cows, bucks, and mountain lion added to the excitement. I wished the water had been nearer, but still an okay place.

Yurt Camping under Sis-Q Stars
What a cool spot! Tom and Jan were awesome - they showed us a cool swimming hole, took us canoeing, and brought us over to watch the bats fly out at night. Would def stay again :)

We loved staying at Sis Q Ranch! The hosts are really wonderful and engaging. The place is beautiful and comfortable. The hosts were so kind to my kids and went out of their way to show them the animals and all of the land around. If you are looking for a secluded, private campsite, this probably isn’t for you. If you want beauty, friendliness and clean, real bathrooms, this is for you!

Such a wonderful experience to stay at Sis-Q-Ranch. Hosts Tom and Jan are wonderfully welcoming and helpful, and the yurt was clean and comfy. The wi-fi was good. Great bathroom facilities.

Jan and Tom are the best hosts. We spent a night in the yurt on our trip home from Oregon and could not have picked a better place. About 35 mins off I-5, past Fort Jones. They sent us to the best swimming spots and made us feel at home on their property. Our kids fed the horses and fell in love with the dogs. This area is beautiful and on the edge of Klamath National Forest. Food in nearby Ft. Jones was great and convenient. Clean bathrooms, showers, and sinks. The highlight was Tom and Jan, though. They are wonderful people, they know the area very well, and want to share their love of nature with their guests.

Sis Q Ranch Tent Camping
Jan and Tom were wonderful hosts ! Their ranch is super nice for some great camping. The campsite has very good grass coverage which made sleeping on it really comfortable. Our campsite was under huge pine trees which gave some very good shade. The bathrooms were super clean.
The ranch itself is a great place to relax. We got a chance to pet their horses and the night sky is breathtaking ! There is barely any light pollution and we got to see a lot of stars and the milky way too !
Jan suggested a watering hole/falls close by which is secluded and it was EPIC ! Thank you so much Jan for showing us this hidden gem!
Jan and Tom were super friendly and informative and gave us some great history about the place itself. We had a grocery store 10mins ( drive ) which more than accommodated our needs. Etna has a very nice restaurant ( Denny's Bar ) that Jan recommended.
Just to sum it up, this place is a great escape for a nice camping experience.

Our family of 4 stayed 2 nights in our pop up trailer on Tom and Jan’s ranch. We had such a lovely time. They went above and beyond to make this a experience for us, from letting the kids help with farm animals, pointing us toward an unbelievably sweet swimming hole, pointing out all sorts of interesting facts about local wildlife and history, and showing the kids the toad’s favorite hiding places. We enjoyed the other guests and we all gathered round the fire to visit our last night. There is also a fantastic restaurant in town called 5 Marys. This is such a special place and Tom and Jan are such special people. We hope to return!

From the long sweeping turns to the sweet scent of fresh barley grown in the area, this place is dreamy. Nestled in a rich valley is this cool place ran by the sweetest couple. Tom and Jan are fantastic hosts!!! Experienced and thoughtful. The yurt was nice. They even covered the top when the word of rain came.
We are already booking another time to return.

Sis Q Ranch was amazing, Tom & Jan are fantastic hosts and were great to chat with during our stay. The showers hot water supply is actually HOT which is especially awesome after a trip on dusty trails and roads without showering. The site was very nice, with a beautiful view of the sunset and two great trees to hang a hammock from, big thumbs up.

Tom and Jan greeted us kindly when we arrived to their quiet ranch. They have wonderful dogs. The campsite was spacious, and next to their house.
Tom and Jan know the area well and would be happy to make any recommendations.
They are both former teachers and lovely people.
The bathroom was clean, but the shower did not drain well.
Tom and Jan have a beautiful property, and I would love to stay with them again.

Camping on sis q ranch was an amazing experience!! Jan and Tom are such wonderful people. We reached a little late in the day near sunset time, the drive to the place and the farm itself is just so beautiful. There is a Walmart close by , we picked a few things and fueled up and it was a 15 min drive with amazing views and country side scenic drive. We had booked site 2. Jan and Tom had accidentally turned on the sprinklers on their land and so the ground was all wet. They then offered us a yurt instead!! It was a fun night!!! We booked , put up a camp fire, watched the stars. It got very very cold at night!! We weren’t prepared for this cold. But slept well. The next day jan gave us a tour of their property, organic gardens, horses and pond. Just incredible people they are. I was amazed to see what all they have achieved with their property. Definitely worth visiting.

Tom and Jan are very gracious hosts, and their campsite was the perfect 1-night stop for us on our road trip to Oregon.
Some of the highlights:
- Compared to a state park or national park, the bathrooms are amazing! Hot water, two large basin sinks, flush toilets and showers.
- We stayed in Campsite 1, and there were no other campers there, so we were able to use the communal fire pit to ourselves. (Note: there aren't fire rings at each site, just the one communal pit which has no grates, so bringing a camp stove is advised)
- It was our puppy's first camping trip, and Tom and Jan were very welcoming to him! He loved playing with their dogs.
- Jan was kind enough to show us the coop and left us with fresh eggs to eat from her hens
- It was a quick trip for us, but we did explore the walking trails in the forest behind their property which were perfect for exercising us and our puppy after a long day in the car
My only recommendation would be to bring ear plugs and an eye mask. It's next to a working farm, and there was machinery running fairly late (~10pm). There are also a fair number of noisy birds and a rooster in the morning. We had ear plugs in, so it wasn't a problem at all. Also, remember your bug spray! There were a good amount of mosquitos around since it's close to water.
We'd love to stay here again.

Tom and Jan were such sweet hosts and they have a really special property in the hidden gem of Scott Valley. The best part was the 5 minute walk to Scott River!! Don’t miss that. Thank you for your hospitality ❤️🌲

Tom and Jan were very welcoming and made us feel at home.
They gave us some fresh vegetables from their garden and made us feel at home. We purchased some fresh eggs for our breakfast and Tom gave us directions to a beautiful local waterfall on a local Native American Reservation. Their large 2 acer pond was an amazing attraction of local and migratory birds and the evenings skies were clear of most any light pollution and an amazing vies of the constellation and the dog friendly environment was great.
