Palm & Piedra is 5 acres located in Landers by New Dixie Mine Road and adjacent to thousands of acres of Bighorn Mountain Wilderness area (BLM land). It's great for hiking and allows OHV / Off-road vehicles. The area used to have a lot of gold mines that are no longer operational. No vehicle is needed to access the road and trails, so you can just walk into the area from the property. Giant Rock is also close by and is deemed the largest free-standing boulder in the world at 7 stories high, with the Integratron Sound Bath (reservations needed). Joshua Tree is a short 15 minute drive.

Silver Squirrel Vintage Airstream

Fun stay, but read the small print!

Our stay at Silver Squirrel Airstream was super pleasant. The one thing to note is that this airstream is definitely not private, as the actual airstream is located very close to the main house. This normally would not be a problem if the person in the main house was not taking selfies all night with a very bright ring light :) Kelly is a great host but is very particular about the rules and instructions. We used a small grill (inexpensive) to cook dinner and we received a ton of backlash, including an additional fee to clean the grill. Despite having a long list of overall instructions for the place (3+ pages), there was no mention of a spotless grill. It is apparent that Kelly is a new host so please be aware of this while booking, as she seems a bit uptight.

Silver Squirrel Vintage Airstream

Cute but not clean

Great location and well decorated but not worth the nightly rate. When we arrived to the silver squirrel we found an empty drug baggy, someone earrings on the floor of the airstream, dirty sheets, no towels and trash not take out. For the nightly rate paid, one could expect somewhat clean accommodations. I hate to leave a poor review but don’t want others to be led astray as we were. Please be sure to clean after every stay, Especially during the corona virus outbreak!

Silver Squirrel Vintage Airstream

Retro Getaway

The Silver Squirrel is great for a romantic or solo getaway. A great space to read, write, or just hang around in the desert sun. The facilities are all very well kept and the host is very informative which made everything easy breezy. The Airstream sits on a property with another house which is currently being renovated. Although at some point the house may be booked at the time of your stay I feel like you’d have adequate privacy and space. Overall a great little retro spot for a peaceful retreat.
