RV Campsite #1 - The Crossing
A great location in the mountains
We arrived well after dark and an exhausting drive so very glad to find our campsite.. A bit surprised by the pet fee of $10 added after instant booking. We chose the site because of the location and the added appeal of a restaurant/bar Josie’s Hideout at the site. It was disappointing to discover it closed at 6! So we missed that experience and left before it opened in the morning. But communication was clear via the hip camp app when I asked for clarification on the opening hours. The not so great was being startled by a voice and flashlight demanding to know who we were! Apparently the on site person was unaware of our booking through Hipcamp, and was not happy about it.still all was resolved. The Hipcamp is actually a campground built up a very steep hill with Josie’s at the foot on the main rd. It’s very clean and the campsites are pretty private although close together.
On balance it was an interesting stopover but we are unlikely to return.

Can’t wait to come back
Tent camping here was a ton of fun. Some live music from Josie’s hideout during the day, and lots of quiet peacefulness at night. Our dogs loved being off leash and hanging around in the wilderness. If you hike up a little towards the cabins, you can see the water in the distance. Bobby the on site manager was also very helpful and responsive

The Perch - RV Parking
Beautiful weekend!
The site was easily accessible for our 30’ fifth wheel. The road was in good shape and maintained well. Water and power was nicely situated near the best views on the site. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The view was serene and peaceful. There was no other camp site in view (amazing) just Palomar Mountain and lake Henshaw. Beautiful star gazing and quiet mornings.
We were there on a weekend so the sounding roads have a lot of motorcycles riding out to the mountains during the daytime. All in all The campsite is well worth checking out, you wouldn’t be disappointed.

The Cove: Oak-Tree Shaded Campsite
Good spot, just be cautious
I stayed at the campsite called "the cove". Beautiful views, dark starry skies, and I was surrounded by oaks and listened to the sounds of crickets and coyotes in the distance. There is some music and commotion at The Hideout but once the hideout closed it was peaceful and quiet for a while. Sadly my site was close to cabin #9 and late in the evening there were people hanging out on there porch, talking very loudly, cussing, drinking beer, and they turned on the front porch ruining the dark night, peace, and quiet. I would recommend this place just not this particular spot unless the site host ensures things stay dark and quiet after a reasonable time. Otherwise pick a site a bit up from there.

RV Campsite #1 - The Crossing
Camping with my love
We loved the Perch view at the top and the cute biker bar at the bottom of the hill! It was the most beautiful space with friendly staff and campers. Truly the best view I have seen this year!
