John was a great host, super chill and very helpful. I have a 4 door full-size truck with a 28’ travel trailer. He has a big U turn set up so entry and set up was a breeze. Trailer or motor home setup has a large gravel area with a sizable concrete pad giving you lots of options. He has a 50 amp outlet to use and even had a 50 to 30 amp adapter available for my trailer. The exit was a little tight but still easily achieved.
There is also size able area you cold set up multiple tents. Great for larger groups or maybe Girl or Boy Scout outings. Our granddaughter enjoyed picking , and eating, some apples and pomegranates. Overall we really enjoyed our time at John’s. It can work for an overnight passing through or an extended stay. I would not hesitate to stay again.

Awesome spot to get an evening away from LA in a very chill environment! Plenty of space to set up tents, a picnic table, fire pit (+ wood) and grill, flush toilet and fenced well enough to keep dogs in. There were fresh apples and pomegranates we could pick from the trees when we visited in early October! John and his wife were both very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Would recommend if you're passing through the are or if you're an LA local looking for a local change of scenery for a night with your dogs and you don't feel like dealing with a super busy campground.

My little family loved our stay in our travel trailer at John and Vivian's ranch in Moorpark! John is a great communicator, as well as kind and accommodating. The property is beautiful and not at all far from common amenities in a city/town. At the same time it is so quiet and peaceful, such a charming spot! We picked some apples and pomegranates in the orchard, they were delicious:) You can hear roosters in the morning which adds to the country feel. Work with John on parking your trailer if it has hook-ups and you'll be golden. It's a tad tight with the fences around but we managed to park easily at night. Our dogs absolutely loved running around the secured/ fenced-in property which was an awesome perk. We would highly recommend staying at John & Vivian's charming ranch!

Lots of room for any size rig and full hookups. Nice full service bathroom. Great fire pit area, too. Will definitely visit again.

John’s place is wonderful and very family friendly. I camped 3 nights with my nieces and nephew and we had a great time! John is very friendly and accommodating. He told us to help ourselves to any ripe fruit on his many fruit trees - apples, pomegranate, fig. The bathroom was clean w/ a nice big utility sink for washing dishes. He provided plenty of wood for the fire pit and we made s’mores one night. His place is also very close to “Apricot Lane Farms” which was featured in “The Biggest Little Farm” so we visited their farmstand on Saturday and were able to see some of their gardens. Hitch camp is also a short drive to the beaches down a windy and beautiful mountain road. Overall wonderful experience and I highly recommend this place!

What a treat to arrive at Johns’s place after a long day crossing the Mojave! We parked our little trailer in the “back forty” and had just the amenities we needed, a bathroom and electric hookup. Even better, we enjoyed the shade and birdsong. John was most gracious in hosting our brief stay. Highly recommended.

I love this place, and I love the hosts. We had to cancel the first nite and they were very understanding and helped us do that.
It was great getting to wake up and pick fresh apples for breakfast, and having a real bathroom with plenty of room to do dishes I'm the sink was an unexpected bonus.
I think I'm spring this place would be amazing! However in the middle of July with no shade it was hot. We ended up spending our days away from camp so we wouldn't cook. Another issue which is nothing that can be controlled were milk weed bugs. They don't sting, or bite, or fly, so not overly problematic - just didn't want to sit on, or sit anything else on, the ground.
If you camp in the field rather than in an RV on the concrete be aware you will have to cross a good 100ft of loose gravel. For most not a big deal, for those with hypermobility it may be a huge issue.
The neighbors are a little closer than they appear and mind their own business - there are roosters though, so bring ear plugs because they have a very different idea of morning than people may.
It is less expensive than a motel though, and it was so nice being able to have a fire, and brought home enough fruit to bake a pie, for summer months I'm not sure it's worth the price yet - it has a ton of potential and I can see it being well worth the price at a later date

Though I would love to give a horrible review and keep John’s land my dirty little secret I just can’t do it! He and his wife have done a beautiful job with the place. We have two dogs and knew that they were secure thanks to chicken wire on the fence in his very large yard. We had electrical hook ups and a cement pad, he even had a brand new built small restroom right beside the camper, which made it very convenient for us. He met us at the gate and guided us in, and didn’t mind that we arrived around 9 o’clock at night . He guided me around his backyard, with his reclaimed barn turned mother-in-law quarter and he’s cute Koi pond. The next morning him and his wife brought Ollie out to play with our two dogs. I will say that we have an F250 and a 30 foot camper once you got to the backyard there was plenty of space, but be prepared to be a good driver as it is slightly challenging to get on the path from the front to the back with a large vehicle, it’s doable for sure, but be good or you’ll take out a wall . John was very cordial, and kind. I would highly recommend his location.

My family and I tent camped for two nights. The space was ample, the fire pit was great, and having a bathroom for my 4 year old to use was super helpful.
John was always quick to reply to my questions. He met us when we arrived and showed us around. It would be a great spot for an rv/camper too!
We have a dog but didn’t bring him, though I noted on the listing before booking that it was dog friendly… John’s property is perfectly fenced and we feel like we could’ve safely brought our Bruno and not had to worry about him slipping through spots. We highly recommend staying here :)

The drive to John's place is a step back in time. You are surrounded by fields of Agriculture and Country living. The campsite is simply fantastic. Apple trees, plum, citrus and fig trees beg for you to to sample them. The Hosts are so friendly and love to talk about their facination of what we like.

John was so kind and gracious to welcome us with open arms! Thank you for making our stay away from the city such a beautiful time! The quiet space and incredible property and the fig and apple trees was definitely a bonus! John encouraged us to pick the apples off his trees and we were able to share some yummy apples with our family when we arrived home.
We appreciate your genuine care and we will certainly be back! Chris and I are so grateful to have found your spot to relax and re-energize. To reconnect with Mother Earth at John's place was an absolute blessing!! Thank you!!!!!!

John was genuinely friendly and we had a good stay! The kids loved the fire pit and apples that were offered to pick and eat off their tree. Large, private and peaceful area. We had a nice morning walk around on the streets one morning. The town nearby is conveniently close and has all the amenities. We were even able to pick up a water hose at the local hardware store that we needed to replace. We spent Saturday at the Teaching Zoo attached to Moorpark College and really enjoyed the time there. It’s not impossible to get in there with a large rig but not exactly fun. We have a 41 foot 5ver towed by a F450. Our turning radius on the truck is excellent and probably made things a bit easier. Well worth the stay!

We loved staying with John! He was supper friendly, very responsive and the property was beautiful. He was kind enough to come out and help us get parked and set up (as a new Trailer Driver this was a BIG for me)! He gave us everything we needed and always answered questions! I would absolutely recommend his property- it was well maintained and supper kid friendly!

John is an amazing host! The property is fabulous and accommodated our 40+ foot motor coach along with our 18’ flatbed trailer and Honda CRV with ease. I’m always concerned with access given our size and we had no problems getting in and out. Flat gravel parking or grassy field around the camp fire. Beautiful new toilet and wash tub sink in sparkling clean private bathroom. Easy access from town and highway. We will definitely be back next time we’re near LA! It’s a winner!!!

This was an excellent site. John was very welcoming and accommodating. There was plenty of space and privacy, with a fully supplied fire pit and a very clean and nice bathroom. The location was convenient and easy to find. I highly recommend this site and hope to stay here if I am in the area again!

We had an enjoyable time staying at John’s Hipcamp. He was a super nice guy who worked hard to make sure that his hip campers were comfortable and happy. We only saw him once but he showed us the fire pit up on the hillside along with the chairs and firewood he had set up and explained to us how we could easily back into the space he had set up for us. He has a special, clean, graveled place behind his house where are you can park your trailer on a concrete pad and it’s far away enough from the house that it feels extremely private. He has a spot for two RVs but he says he only does one at a time. That was nice because we had the whole place to ourselves. There was a beautiful view outside of our front door that opened onto a lovely hillside spotted with trees. John and his dad built a little bathroom which is right next to our camper that had a large, industrial sink for washing clothes in or dishes and toilet. All of this was new. He had full hook up but the sewer wasn’t currently working at the time, but this was no matter since we had access to the toilet and we did our dishes in that large sink. We did set up our little outdoor shower at the back of the camper so that we wouldn’t fill up our gray water tank. We found ourselves driving down to Malibu and the coast of California and there’s easy access to a lot of things in the area. Plenty of shopping nearby. thanks John!

The location was very quiet. It was a great place to try out our trailer for the first time. I came here two weeks ago with some friends. There is plenty of space to spread out tents and there is a wonderful campfire pit.
John is a great host. He is very helpful and friendly while giving you privacy. We plan to come here again.

We loved camping with our van on John’s land. We sat around the large stone fire ring listening to owls and coyotes. In the morning a rooster softly crowing was a nice way to wake up. The modern outhouse was also a pleasant addition to the camping site.

We liked the setup: quick turn and back into the electric abd water hookup. No Black water dump however the access to container toilet and utility basic were super. John was also quite accommodating. I’d stay again.

John’s place was PERFECT for us! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt like we had found a hidden gem. The pasture is beautiful and felt much bigger than we were expecting. The ground is level and isn’t covered with rocks making pitching our tent very easy.
The fire pit is large (and has a fun design) and we were easily able to cook our sausages and S’mores over the fire.
John was an excellent host, he met us at the pasture and showed us around the grounds. He was super friendly and easy to communicate with through the whole process.
We tent camped, but the setup for RVs seemed very nice with a very large gravel area.
As you go toward the back of the property, the elevation rises, and we were able to enjoy some nice views as well as some of the fruit from the trees.
Will definitely book again! It is such a short drive from LA, but feels like another world.
My son and his friends had such a good time.
I highly recommend camping at John’s place!
