Harris Family Farm and Forest

I loved camping in the apple orchard on Jane's farm! There was plenty of space for us to maneuver and park our trailer on the grass. We loved visiting the bake shop for apple donuts, caramel apples, and live music. Their flower garden is so colorful and we picked a pretty bouquet. We even had a small fire in the fire ring. I appreciated being able to have my dog with us too. Thank you and we look forward to coming back!

We love Harris farm! The forest spots are so magical with the towering trees. It was particularly beautiful in fall and a great spot to stay while visiting all the apple hill farms! Jams is gracious host and we love her farm shop!

Sweet spot!

Site 6 - Stargazing Orchard Site

Jane's land is simply beautiful. We stayed at campsite 2 which was across the street from the farm and orchard in the tall pine trees. In mid October the weather was mostly sunny and warm during the day and lightly chilly at night. The camping areas in the forest are on a hill with a slight grade. I think site 4 may be a little more level and tucked away. We slept in our vehicles so no comment for tents, but it is uneven. There are super clean porta potties at the campsites. We had the area to ourselves on a Monday-Wednesday. Lots of trees for hammock hanging, soft pine covered earth, lots of fallen pine cones of all types. They are big and fall and could hurt so be wary of the sounds. It is by the road so there are some sounds, but not much especially in the evening hours. One evening we did see two tarantulas. Only other animals sighted were a hare, various birds and insects. The pie shop is cute and available to campers most days if they are busy baking. the mini pies and cupcakes are beautiful and delicious. Friendly hosts. Would return!

I loved camping here! You get the perfect scenery, apple orchards and Christmas trees. Such a great weekend! Jane and her whole team were so friendly and accommodating. To top it off we picked up fresh baked pie slices each night and brought back to the campsite to enjoy by the fire. Couldn’t recommend this place enough! We will be coming back for more trips in the future.

Charming apple hill farm for a day visit. Just not a great Hipcamp. I’d guess they have a couple of hundred visitors or more a day - and only two porta-potties. As a result they were full and not clean as well as missing handwashing station (out of soap and towels). The garbage overflowed, was spread by animals at nights and left that way for hours. The drinking water was full of sediment (see picture). We camped right in the middle of the orchard and had people walk through the “site” frequently. Not what we had hoped for.

Had a pie on the way in. It was overall a nice experience. It was my husband and myself so we felt secluded enough at site 4. Nearby sites were families so you could definitely hear the little ones. Our 3 person tent fit and was perfect amount of space for us.

Site 6 - Stargazing Orchard Site

We had a great stay at Harris Family Ranch! It’s just a short walk from the farm, where we enjoyed treats like apple cider doughnuts, fresh pie, and even picked our own apples. There was plenty to do—corn hole, live music, and a fun pumpkin patch that our kids loved. Although we were a little bummed we couldn’t have a campfire at our own site (understandable with forrest fire worries), the communal fire pit by the farm made up for it. We had a great time roasting marshmallows there with our kids. The porta potties were fairly clean and well-stocked, conveniently located right across from our campsite. Our only real complaint was that our site was on a slope—there was just one decently level spot for a tent, so our second tent ended up a bit tilted. Next time we might choose a different site. Other than that, it was a really fun and family-friendly experience, and we’d definitely come back.

We've stayed at Harris Family Farm for the last 3 years. It's a great spot to park your tent or trailer for the weekend and do all the Apple Hill things. This year we picked the most amazing golden delicious apples right on the farm.

Great, convenient spot right next to Apple Hill fun. Quiet and comfy sites, with benefit of pie, fruit, etc onsite! They even provided firewood for a nice communal fire.

Spacious camping site for a decent sized group that was also very private. Brought my Econoline camping van had no problems with a great forest view. Clean bathrooms and well kept land. The farm was very fun and great for families!

Autumn Camping beneath the Stars!

We loved tent camping at Harris Family Farm. Amongst the apple trees there is an amazing view of the night sky trimmed in evergreens! This was our first time camping with our dog and it was a great experience. Space between campsites, and ample parking. We enjoyed the u-pick aspect and pie shop. The garden is beautiful. One pro/con is the grass is much better than camping on dirt (or worse concrete) but we did end up using our rain guard to prevent dew on the tent, which blocked our view of the stars. Some things did get a little wet into the evening and early in the morning. Perhaps a different tent option would work better for this aspect. It is very open and not as tucked away as I imagined but very quaint and peaceful all the same!

Site 3 - Cedar Tree Campsite

Beautiful farm, we had a great time camping among the trees and stargazing. Jane was so kind and the pie shop was really cute. There was plenty of space for our group of 9 to camp and the kids had a lot of fun too. Conveniently located to easily run into town or explore more of apple hill while you’re there.

Awesome family farm and campsite! Easy check-in and the premises had activities for our kids (swings, large connect 4, cornhole, etc.). The campsite itself was nice, private and clean. We stayed for one night and it was perfect as we visited Apple Hill for the day. Definitely recommend! We had camp 3.

Great spot, lovely hospitality. Our group enjoyed picking berries and flowers and napping in the grass under apple trees on a hot day! The kitchen has great mini apple cider doughy and other offerings, and the campsite was fun, peaceful, clean, and safe.

Camping in the forest

The campsite was beautiful and surrounded by trees. There was just one other campsite occupied and we didn’t feel too close. Even though we were just across the main road from the farm, it felt like we were in the forest. The Portapotty was very clean and the site was swept. The hosts were so friendly and made delicious donuts in the morning. My daughter loved picking pears and blackberries. We had a great time!

Lots of trees and shade. The whole campsite is a bit on a slope but there's spots where it's flat where you can set up. The donuts from the pie shop are delicious. I would definitely stay here again!

Site 2 was beautifully surrounded by trees and the Porto potty was very clean. This spot was not level for out 20 ft. Van however. We wished we had stayed on the farm side by the orchard instead. I would say all the sites across the road from the farm are best suited for tents and small cars.

The host Jane was very kind and helpful. Overall, the property is beautiful and we have camped here in the past and enjoyed it. Unfortunately, for the site we booked, trying to fit 6 people was a stretch. The sites where tents could be set up were small and were all heavily sloped, which made sleeping uncomfortable and made it challenging to set up multiple tents. We ultimately ended up deciding to disperse camp in El Dorado National Forest instead.

Beautiful and convenient location

We really enjoyed this location. It was beautiful and quiet. We loved the nearby walking trail and proximity to Placerville for some treasure hunting. The farm’s homemade pies and donuts were delicious. We plan to return to stage for some more challenging day hikes in Desolation Wilderness.

Not only did we enjoy the campsite and amenities but Jane, the property owner and manager, was super welcoming and made the most delicious lavender, blueberry cupcakes. Our campsite was clean, private and easily accessible to everything! Loved it!
