Nestled on 53 acres of stunning Ocotillo Wells in the Anza Borrego desert, the Desert Ironwoods Resort (DIR) stands out as a unique destination for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. With 145 campsites equipped with full hook-ups, a cozy 12-room motel, a general store, and a secure RV storage facility, DIR offers a perfect blend of comfort and adventure. Many of our long-term tenants have been part of the DIR community for over 30 years, sharing their love for the Ocotillo Wells area, which is renowned for off-roading, hiking, birdwatching, and a tight-knit community that spans generations. Originally established in the 1950s by prominent Hollywood and Los Angeles businessmen, the DIR quickly became a favored retreat for the elite. From the mid-50s to the late 60s, stars, moguls, lawyers, and doctors flocked to our private airstrip to indulge in desert activities, including the early days of dune buggies, jeeping, and off-road motorcycle riding, all while soaking up the sun and enjoying vibrant social gatherings.
