The site is basically someone's front yard. The listing mentions showers, but it is outside and not heated. The host is chatty and very nice.

The beauty of the area and the Redwoods are amazing. Bonnie was super nice and our stay was peaceful. The facilities were what we expected. The site is off the beaten path which makes it even more amazing. We took a long walk on the road.

Excellent host, Beautiful landscape

Bonnie was an incredibly sweet host. She knows how to respect your privacy, but is also very sociable and kind if you’d like to ever have a chat with her. It is a perfect little secluded area that makes you feel like you have your own little slice of the forest. It is about 20 min away from black sand beach and the J cafe down the road has great sandwiches. I’m planning on returning next time I get the urge to visit Northern California.

Bonnie and her land are both great--I highly recommend Chamise Mountain Retreat! I was lucky to have the place to myself, so it was extra quiet. I loved falling asleep to the frogs and waking up with the birds. The toilet and shower were clean, and there were an outdoor table and chairs at the camp site itself.

Deep peace among the deep trees

Lovely spot and host! Awesome access to the Lost coast trail via the campground just a short walk down the road. Shower was cold only for us… if hot water is available we couldn’t get it going. Few mosquitos, but not bad at all

Beautiful location in the forest - very peaceful and with trails straight from the campsite. Very close to Shelter Cover, which has stunning beaches and restaurants. Bonnie was a great host and the facilities (cabin and toilet/shower) were clean and very useful.

Camping at Trillium Cabin Site

Trillium Cabin

We loved camping at the Trillium Cabin site on Bonnie's property. The combination of privacy, woods, and proximity to the sea (~15 minute drive) was perfect for our group. We hiked a portion of the Lost Coast trail from the property, biked the amazing Paradise Royale MTB trail, and enjoyed a picnic on the beach. Coming back to the site after a long day of adventuring to a hot shower and flush toilet was a real bonus. The outdoor kitchen set up can't be beat--inspires me to build one someday! We're already planning when we can return. (Oh, and on our weekend, we saw a bear, a bobcat, and whales breaching!)

Nice quiet spot amongst the trees and by a stream not far from Shelter Cove. Bonnie was a lovely, friendly host, who made some good suggestions for us. Great outdoor warm shower and flushing toilet. Bring bug repellent for sunset!

Very convenient to Shelter Cove and the Lost Coast Trail. Our campsite offered a serene setting and it was nice to be staying in a more secluded area than camping in one of the nearby campgrounds. It was very hot (July 5-6) for our visit, so the cold outdoor shower was welcomed. Flushing toilets were nice and clean. We didn’t have phone service, Verizon, so recommend being sure the toilet paper is stocked.

We have never traveled to this part of California before. It is quite remote and beautiful. Bonnie has a bit of paradise and shared her beautiful property with us. We followed Bonnie’s recommendations and visited the local winery and nearby wood craftsman’s shop. This location is only 10 mins from the coast and lots of trails. Thank you. We look forward to visiting again.

Quiet and spacious property

We had a wonderful stay for two nights in a camper van. Bonnie was made us feel at home on her property, even bringing us a fresh fish stew one for dinner one night! The camping area is separated from the main house by a small stream and a row of trees, so it felt quiet and secluded. Amenities include an indoor toilet and shower and a picnic table. Beautiful stars at night and good tree coverage for shade during the day. Just make sure to bring lots of mosquito repellant and an insect net to protect yourself at night!

Great location near Shelter Cove

Not only did we have access to a nice outdoor shower (solar-heated) but our hostess even offered us to stay in a little cabin nearby, which has running water and a sink. We were treated so kindly. It was heart-warming and we would recommend to anyone to go without hesitation! As a bonus, it's very close to Shelter Cove, a very nice place on the coast.
