Originally a lemon grove beginning in the 1960's, our property has changed hands and directions over the years. We started to convert the land into an organic, biodiverse farm in 2014 when we realized that there was more that we could do to benefit the land and our community. Plantings of various fruit trees ensued, and over the years we've filled the property with hundreds of different fruit, vegetable and ornamental flower crops. Recently, we've built out a gorgeous infrastructure and incorporated camping to share this beautiful location with others. From majestic sunrises to magnificent sunsets, Nopalito Farm and Campo Nopalito offer a calm and relaxing atmosphere gained from the lush, rural farm setting. Our region plays host to one of the most biodiverse populations of plants and animals in the world, and we've landscaped our grounds with an array of native plants that attract a multitude of animal life. Here, you'll experience the largest bird distribution in all of North America, as well as a stunning display of fragrant flora. As far as accommodations go, our cabins and shared facilities are second to none. The meticulously-crafted cabins are a joy to stay in, our commercial-grade shared kitchen is top notch, our bathroom facilities are gorgeous and the land that everything resides on is as beautiful as it gets. Less than 30 minutes away are mountain hiking trails and beautiful beaches, and even closer are multi-generational family farms and boutique wineries. For more urban needs, the city of Escondido is a short 15 minute drive away. We love the space we've so happily been blessed to steward and know you will too!

Overall it was a great experience and my dogs had an amazing time freely running around. However as someone who hates and gets freaked out by bugs, there were so many huge ant looking bugs crawling on our bed, falling from the ceiling to our heads while sleeping. I thought the houses would be a little different but there were many gaps so it was pretty cold at night and many of the bugs got inside the room. I would recommend it to people who don't mind the bugs! It was very peaceful!

Magical camping experience!
I had such an incredible time, I stayed 2 additional nights! This place is seriously such a charming gem. I did a writing and meditation self retreat and found the space to be so supportive to a peaceful solitude experience. Once I got there, I didn't have to leave, because the fully stocked kitchen, stove, and fridge really set you up for a glamping situation. All of the beauty and magic of being in nature, with the glory of a hot shower under the stars and a luxuriously clean flushing toilet. I highly recommend this place. It's still really new so probably going to become really hard to book very soon. The hosts are amazing and so responsive. Fall asleep to the sounds of crickets and frogs, owls hooting, and a gaggle of coyotes in the distance, then wake up to the rolling hills views and sounds of baby sheep bahhing in the distance, turtle doves cooing, and a rooster too! Then enjoy fresh avocados and other organic fruit right off the trees! The place is magical and a true gem!

Best HipCamp EV-ERRRRRR!
Wow, what an unforgettable experience! This was my favorite HipCamp location so far. The A frame was so cute and cozy with the floating wall! The beds were clean and the linens were upscale. The full restaurant quality kitchen and pizza oven were luxurious. The outdoor shower was private, spacious and HOT. The bathrooms were always spotless and they provide clean hand towels every day. The fire pit is super nice and large enough that you can have your own space or join in group conversation. There's a lot of tables and chairs around to sit and have your coffee or read or write. The hosts, Jacob and Jordan were amazing. So attentive to detail, warm and welcoming. The property itself is massive and meticulously kept. There were fruit trees everywhere, and they offered fresh ripe avocados just picked for guests. Oh and Gertie! If you're lucky, you might get a visit from the camp dog with the best personality!

TL;DR - Campo Nopalito is a wonderful farm run by an incredibly kind, caring family. The highlight of our stay was getting to know all the members of the family. The Farm/The A Frames and Tents/The Amenities The farm was easy to find - we were able to use Google Maps to make our way there. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Jordan and Jacob. They gave us a quick tour of our A frame unit, as well the amenities they had on site. The A frame unit was cozy, and the patio was a great place to hang out and soak in the sun during the afternoon. We also got to spend a night in the tents on site, which provided a different experience closer to camping, but with the same beds as the A frames. The kitchen has cooking utensils, a refrigerator, a stove, an oven, and a pizza oven. The bathroom has two stalls and an outdoor shower. These amenities are shared by all the rental units on the property. The farm itself is beautiful, with plenty of avocado and lemon trees. It’s fairly quick to walk around, but has some great views. The Hosts Jacob, Jordan, and their parents were all a pleasure to meet. We got to speak with each one, and had the opportunity to learn their stories. It definitely made the stay special. They were also quick to answer any questions or address any issues we had. We couldn’t have asked for more kind and helpful hosts for our stay.

A-frame camping in the open air
I loved camping at camp nopalito. It was so peaceful and there was everything I needed. There's an outdoor shower with hot water, a stocked outdoor kitchen with a little fridge and pizza oven, stove, and sink. The A frames were adorable, the bed was comfortable, and the whole site was quiet and beautiful.

I really enjoyed my stay here with my two humans. I live in an apartment in downtown LA, so it was a nice change of pace for me to have so much open space to roam. I had a blast playing and going on walks with Gertie. She's really friendly and showed me around the farm. We even got to play games with the local gophers! During the night time, we sat around really hot pieces of wood for a few hours. It was strange because the wood emitted heat and light. My humans seemed to enjoy just sitting there and talking.

This family has gone the extra mile(s) to make Nopalito a memorable experience. Glamping at its best with a full-fledged commercial kitchen in an outdoor setting. We fired up the pizza oven (be sure to check and make sure it's a good time to use it) and made several personal pizzas. We had a campfire, went for meandering walks, listened to the resident owls, hawks, and coyotes echoing through the canyon and spotted bright gold and black orioles. There's an outdoor shower with great water pressure and hot water. Sitting around the campfire at night with our delightful camp neighbor just added to the overall experience. Nopalito was an unparalleled home base for us as we took day hikes along the coast, visiting the various "beach cities" as we went. Many thanks to our hosts.

I loved the cabin we stayed in! It was tiny and felt so cozy! The area was quiet and filled with trees everywhere and the communal kitchen and bathroom were perfect for what we needed. We brought our cat who absolutely loved getting to nature watch and we loved the little built in deck with the cabin to sit with her and relax. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a small little getaway!

Absolutely loved it
Jacob, Jordan and family have done a phenomenal job with their Hipcamp setup. The A frames were clean, well designed and comfortable. The shared spaces like kitchens, bathrooms had everything you need and were spotlessly clean. I was here with my dog who had a ton of fun playing with the farm dog - Gertie. We are definitely coming back here and I am even thinking of using this venue for a private party!

Such a nice weekend stay! The little cabins are perfect, stayed perfectly comfortable all night. I used a sleeping bag over the comforter only because I was testing out a new one, but you should be fine without bringing anything extra! The shared kitchen, bathroom and eating spaces were also lovely. Great chance to meet other people staying. Gertie (the camp dog) was an amazing host and came several times throughout the day to check on everyone = ) Would love to come back with more people in the future! Arriving even at night was very straight forward, google maps will get you 98% of the way there and a quick phone call with Jordan got me right to my spot. Roads were bumpy from rain wash but completely doable without a big car. Would 100% rec to friends and will definitely be back in the future!

cute, convenient, + comfortable!
10/10, all around! You can tell that Jordan has invested a lot of time and energy into curating a great experience for Hipcampers. Campo Nopalito really has everything you need for a great weekend getaway (flushing toilets, bathroom sink, awesome outdoor shower, fridge with small communal space, industrial stove, kitchen sink, cooking essentials, linens, etc.). We loved how easy it was to raise and lower the A frame wall, too. Recommend bringing bug spray if mosquitos love you — I didn't get bit, but my partner did. We would return in a heartbeat!

Absolute bliss.
This place is truly amazing. Jacob and Jordan have put so much work into Campo Nopalito and it absolutely shows. The convertible cabin was truly a treat - lying in bed with the wall open to the sun, breeze, and view of the mountains was pure bliss. And as far as outdoor kitchens and bathrooms go, I don’t think I’ll ever find something better, especially for the price! If you’re considering staying here, do yourself a favor and book it. It’s paradise.

A farm not far away
Nopalito Farm is not a far away farm. It is just in San Diego. It gave us a quick getaway from our very busy work. It provided us a different and a very unique place to sleep. My favorite part is the sound of the rooster, not cars. You are really in a farm! So quiet at night. The common kitchen gave us a chance to meet new people. Good conversations made our short getaway memorable.

Cozy Springtime Getaway
Communal amenities (outdoor kitchen, shower, plumbing etc) exceeded my expectations! I brought my own cooking utensils but barely had to use any of them. It felt like living in a big home but moving through rooms via outdoor farmland with incredible views and fresh air. Beautiful and green in the spring, but be prepared for a bit of rain. The cabin was so cozy with warm bedding provided. I would message the host next time about which cabin has one double bed or two separate twin beds. There’s also avocado and lemon trees everywhere! And a sweet and playful dog named Gertie that roams the property :) Highly recommend to anyone looking to connect with nature and escape LA/OC/SD for a few days. Cheers!

We just came back from an amazing stay at the farm! The hosts were really friendly and the cozy A-Frames they built are really cool. The views were beautiful and the communal setup had everything you’d need - kitchen, fridge, clean bathrooms, firepit and the best part - the outdoor shower! Took one shortly after sunrise and it felt rejuvenating - highly recommend. It was also fun wandering around the farm which is full of avocado and citrus trees and a flower field. Hope to come back again soon!
