Burke's Campground stands out as a unique destination nestled in the heart of the majestic redwoods, just one mile north of Forestville along the picturesque banks of the Russian River. This serene location offers visitors a stunning ten-mile self-guided canoe and kayak adventure that winds through the enchanting redwood forest, stretching from Forestville to the charming resort town of Guerneville. Embarking on this scenic trip typically takes around 3 ½ hours of actual paddling time. However, many guests choose to extend their experience to 4 or 5 hours, taking breaks to picnic, swim, and soak up the sun along the riverbanks. As you paddle, keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife that inhabits the area, including playful otters, majestic Great Blue Herons, soaring ospreys, sunbathing turtles, and elegant egrets. Canoeing at Burke's is not just an activity; it’s a cherished tradition along the Russian River. The campground opens for the 2025 summer season on Memorial Weekend, starting Friday, May 23rd, for camping and Saturday, May 24th, for canoe and kayak rentals.
