Nestled within the stunning Mountain Home Demonstration State Forest, Balch Park offers a unique camping experience surrounded by majestic mountains, serene lakes, and towering giant sequoias. This picturesque location, situated at an elevation of over 6,000 feet, features mixed oak and conifer forests, providing a tranquil escape for nature enthusiasts. Visitors to Balch Park can engage in a variety of outdoor activities, including birdwatching, hiking, and wildlife viewing. The park is perfect for camping, with sites available on a first-come, first-served basis—no reservations or RV hookups are offered. Campers can check in at 8:00 a.m. and must check out by noon. For those who enjoy fishing, a valid fishing license is required. Additionally, dog owners are welcome to walk their pets on a leash, ensuring a clean environment by scooping up after them. Balch Park is open approximately from mid-May to mid-November, depending on weather conditions.
