My family and I enjoyed a Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning in warm weather on top of a hill with ample privacy. Our site, #6, with the Glass House has its own pathway/entrance away from the rest of the sites. We didn't take advantage in exploring the rest of the property because we were content with spending our time relaxing on our own Island in the Sky bubble.
We did not meet our host, Jeffrey, in person, but he was quick and responsive when we asked for help or had questions and went above and beyond with instructions and tips about his property. We had no issues finding our way.
Site: 6, Glass House. Steep hill to drive up to, but doable in our van on a dry day. Has a fun structure with fairy lights to hang out in.
Length: 1 weekend night
Amenities:
Water, 5 gallons max from a tank behind the yurt, honor code, pull the green lever open. (We thought the tank was empty, but it was user error. Jeffrey kindly instructed me on how to get it going.)
Portable toilets, in front of yurt near gate.
Tips:
No natural shade, bring a pop up canopy or another type of shade.
The roads are dusty, drive slow for everyone's safety.
Located in Calavares County, be prepared to have a plan B in case of a Fire Ban (no campfires allowed). Charcoal grills, gas firepits, gas BBQ and gas stoves are allowed. We roasted marshmallows over charcoal and it worked just fine.
For water, I suggest to haul in your own if you have the trunk space. It is a decent walk from the sites to the water tank.
Glass House warms up quickly and stays warm/hot. I recommend bringing a portable fan during warmer seasons.
