Beautiful spot with a great view of the Matanuska glacier. The camping spots were flat and private. It was easy to maneuver the motorhome in and out. Fire pits are nice and they had dry firewood for sale. Great atv trails. Going back for sure.

We met the new owners Rob and Iwona and had a great conversation with seeing what they have been doing there, and the plans they have. Last year was our first year camping there and enjoyed this trip we had this year. Highly recommended.

I visit this campground at least once per year. The owners have made some thoughtful changes and upgrades since I last camped there. There were more visitors this time than I have seen in the past, but the sites are laid out in a way that allows for privacy and pretending that we have the astounding view all to ourselves. The view of Matanuska Glacier from the campsite is incredible. Hosts are responsive, easygoing and seem to have thought of everything. And as always, this campground has the best outhouses in Alaska.

Beautiful location! We had a spot that had a perfect overlook of the glacier near by. And it was walking distance from the 4th of July car launch so we didn’t have to deal with the crazy parking situation. The host was friendly, helpful, attentive, and very kind. 10/10 would recommend.

We received a text instructing us to ignore the assigned spot as it was first come first serve as far as camp spots went. Lots of other campers got the same message as the spot we were assigned was taken when we arrived. We chose a spot to tent camp. Got an hour into getting our tents up, unloaded our truck and was told by the host we needed to move. A truck and trailer wanted our spot. She offered to kick the couple with two small babies out of our assigned spot. They were clearly there for hours. I couldn’t in good faith make that poor family move. I was very confused, felt unheard and showed her the messages. She said “well that was the hip camps mistake not hers.” She offered no money back unless we left the campground. I had two young kids and a truck full of stuff unloaded reloaded and she gave us another spot. My issue is the truck and trailer could have taken the spot she made us move to. Very inconvenient and really no care for customers. I won’t camp there or ever use “hip camp” campgrounds again. I’ll make sure to tell all my camping Ak friends as well.

The surrounding area was absolutely beautiful. Great views from the campground. When we arrived, someone else had set up camp in our site. Iwona showed up immediately and took care of the problem. She found an alternative site for tent campers that were in our larger rv site. She was most apologetic but we only had a short wait. She checked on us several times and was a gem. I would highly recommend this campground, especially for a great place to stay if you’re attending the Glacier View car launch.

Very friendly camp hosts and a great place to stay. The campground is still at the beginning of its journey and quite new, but the hosts are putting in a lot of effort. We had some noise disturbance in the middle of the night from neighboring campers, but the hosts even got up to take care of it — really appreciated that! The grounds are perfect for families and offer an amazing view of the glacier. We stayed there over the 4th of July so our dogs could have a quiet place during the festivities. Definitely recommend!

My family and I absolutely loved the campground and the host! Every site seems to have a view of the Matanuska Glacier The host was wonderful, very helpful and made sure everyone in the campground had everything to make their experience the best. It was very quiet and the sites are spacious with plenty of room for the family. The family will make this a regular spot for sure!

The land has perfect views of the surrounding mountains, Matanuska Glacier, and the valley. We saw our first cow and calf moose here. It is quiet and serene. There are no services but fires and generators are allowed.

Best view of any campground. Wonderful hosts. Stayed in RV at site 11. Great for boondocking. Close to glacier and just off the highway. Highly recommend.

Nice sites with a fire ring and picnic table. The views from sites along the ridge of the glacier are beautiful. Outhouses were very clean and well maintained.

If you have a self contained rig this is a gorgeous place to camp. The views of the mountains and glacier are amazing.
Tent campers that like to boon dock will also like it. The outhouses are clean and stocked with hand sanitizer.
No power or water hookups yet but I imagine there will be someday.
May not be suitable for small children.
Our group loved it.

Pinochle Trail Campground
Very clean camp, very nice host. Very clean bathrooms and WONDERFUL views. There is a lot of space to walk and explore. The sites are a little close together but might be more private once the trees bud and bloom. Surprisingly no road noise, for being just above the main road. The site was almost perfectly flat without leveling the trailer. We went in early May and had the whole campground to ourselves. They are expanding and clearing out more places. They take pride in their campground and it shows! We loved the little history both as well!

This is a great small primitive camping site with clean pit toilets in a beautiful location. Campsite number seven has an especially great view.
