A unique transforming A-frame camping cabin occupies a compact area, certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a wildlife habitat yard and also recognized as a certified garden and monarch waystation through monarchwatch.org. TSKY is located 3 miles from Long Bow Boat dock on Cave Run Lake, 10 minutes from the Sheltowee Trace National Recreational Trail, and 18 miles to the adventures in the Red River Gorge. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the nature trails and the opportunity to explore in the Daniel Boone National Forest. There are short hikes within a 20-minute drive each offering its own unique discovery. An arch, an overlook, a cave, and a 60-foot waterfall nestled within a small scenic canyon. With so much natural beauty to explore, your stay at our A-frame camping cabin is a perfect base place to Embrace Nature's Pace.Embrace Nature's Pace. Looking for an amazing base camp to start your adventure? Tucked in a corner on the property is an 80 sq. ft., off-grid, transforming, camping a-frame cabin in the Daniel Boone National Forest area and 3 miles from Cave Run Lake, Long Bow boat dock. The yard has been certified through the National Wildlife Federation for sustainability and wildlife habitat, Kentucky Waterways Alliance, Monarchwatch for the waystation, Bluegrass Greensource as a Green Neighbor, and a Firefly Habitat. Guests have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local flora and fauna in the small gardens, Monarch Waystation, and learn about the importance of building local wildlife habitats. Our location is the great starting point to explore the big, beautiful areas around us by driving to your daily destinations: hike, bike, boat, fish, swim, paddle, and more. The aframe space is graveled. There are no hookups at this site - no electricity. There is a changing building for guests to utilize if more space is needed. There is a futon that turns into a full-size bed. (Behind the futon is a memory foam mattress for guests to utilize.) Please bring your own bedding items. (There are no pillows, sheets, comforters, or blankets.) Guests have a view of the back woods behind the resident's main a-frame cabin where you can learn about other KY mushrooms, plants, trees, and native fruits. When the fruits are in season guests can try a few - elderberries, serviceberries, gooseberries, grapes, strawberries, groundcherries, and more. On-site by the cabin will be a flower bed of spearmint, mint, lemon balm and lemon grass - please feel free to pick 'some' and try a tea. The plants also aid in deterring insects. (No pesticides or chemicals are ever used!) (***The short trail, in the woods, is CLOSED until further notice.) Please know we feed the bees, butterflies, and birds by planting native and specific plants. (***If you are allergic to any species of bee or wasp, we are sorry -perhaps we aren't the right fit. While the honeybees and carpenter bees are generally docile, we want to keep everyone safe. Note: the carpenter bees act bold and fly close to you, however, they are male and do not have stingers.) While we love the string lights at night - we try to limit light pollution for our friends - the fireflies. Please feel free to use the lights, however, if you want a spectacular firefly show or to gaze up at the stars - maybe turn them off for a bit. Please know neighbors can be seen from the site from certain areas at TSKY. Just as a campground 'neighbors' can be heard and the residents of the main a-frame may be outside and drive by your site to enter or exit the property. No worries, your space is partially fenced in for privacy. The driveway to the site is graveled with an incline to exit. *The property is not flat... it is sloped.
