Adventuremoon through kentucky!
Site was great once we found it. GPS coordinates definitely didn't take us to the right place but after a quick phone call we found it. Hosts son was there and helped us find the very secluded and gorgeous spot! We got there late but they made sure we had plenty of fire wood! Hosts even brought us down more after they returned home. Hosts were nice and quick to recommend trails to check out. Road back to site was a bit rough but nothing our Jeep couldn't handle. Hopefully we will be back when we take our next trip and can explore the area more!
Felt like coming home
Dennis and Angelica are SO kind and accommodating! We have four dogs, three of them are well behaved and friendly, the other is a bit of a wild card. We can't always take them all with us, but we try to get a few trips with the whole pack every year. They set us up in a beautiful clearing behind a gate up on the mountain so that we were safely away from other campers and could let the dogs run to their heart's content. It was perfect!
Dennis was also great at telling us dog- friendly areas we could hike, and gave excellent directions every time. He was open and happy to share stories about his very interesting life. We loved our short paddle on the Cumberland river and will definitely be back to do a longer one. What a beautiful heirloom they are stewarding in such a perfect way!
Just book it! so awesome!
What an awesome experience! We decided to stay at Patrick & Angelicas compound/campground after deciding not to stay at the gorge (too over crowded). And boy are we glad we chose to stay here! It’s off the beaten path off of beautiful KY country roads, easy to get too, and directions are easily followed. The whole property is a couple hundred acres, and the owners have LOTS of different areas for campers! Once we arrived, Patrick and Angelica were ready and waiting to take us to our camp site. We came with our pop up camper, and chose to do primitive camping. So they took us down the road to a gated off piece of property, and we followed the trail all the way to the top of a mountain, where we camped all weekend. The campground is very spacious and dispersed where we were at. Even if there were other campers, we wouldn’t have known! There are options to stay next to the Cumberland river, down by the main area of the campground. Those sites have water, electric, and nice little areas for tents! The river is amazing, and so peaceful. The main area of the campground has showers, bathrooms, kayaks, a whole area with hammocks to relax, a pool table and more. SO nice! There is a hemp field we took a tour of, and the owner Patrick, was SO wonderful and informative. The entire experience was nothing but amazing! If you are looking for a fun, adventurous, but also relaxing and deep into the KY Appalachian Mountains, this ones for you! The Cumberland river is so peaceful, you can almost imagine what life would have been like when the Indians roamed hundreds of years ago. Highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed!
Quiet, relaxing and rejuvenating
We’ve stayed at Patrick’s Point several times over the past year with each experience getting better than the last. We returned to the mountain top for a primitive stay on a warm August weekend. New this stay was a delicious warm Costa Rican breakfast and coffee prepared by Angelica. The food was absolutely amazing and we savored every bite. We will absolutely be getting her Gallo Pinto breakfast again. As always, the hosts are incredibly kind, personable and a delight to talk to. We always appreciate their recommendations around the area and finally enjoyed the hike on a nearby property.
Great location, serene and private
Quiet, private, and beautiful rustic spot for camping! Everyone at the resort was very friendly and we had a fantastic day paddling the Cumberland River (thanks again for the great recommendation!). Close to lots of great hiking and paddling options.
Private and great sunset
Great secluded camp! Even if all the spots were full it would still fell extremely private. Dennis was a great host showed me around the property and told me where to watch the sunset. Will absolutely be back to this great growing campsite.
