Beautiful place, terrible service!
The lay of the land was beautiful in the private files where impressive! We felt like we were inconvenience to our host Axel because they were in the middle of converting their place to an Airbnb instead of hip camp and we were in the way, kitchen was dirty and our cabin had ants in it which bit me in the night! I wanted them to know so that other people didn’t experience the same thing and he seemed very defensive! I think it Will probably be I better stay for people when they are done converting and cleaning!
We love hamakua cloud forest cabins
We stayed in one of the cabins. It was an awesome and relaxing experience. They provide clean cabins, bathrooms, hot showers and a kitchen. Anyone who wants to truly experience Hawaii’s forest should check this place out!
It was a quiet place out of the city if only sounds of frogs. Be prepared for rain as it is aptly named cloud forest. The waterfall was fun to climb up with a rope. The most positive thing was the community center where we could seek refuge from the rain. In the community center there was a sink, dishwasher, basic appliances, such as, a hot plate and an electric skillet. It did not have a stove and the microwave did not work at the time we were there. However, they had two bathrooms with hot showers which was a nice treat. Also there was a large table where you could sit and enjoy a meal indoors. Overall, it was good. The one negative was that the grass was extremely tall and we had to navigate our way to our tents through paths that were mowed but they were narrow in we got wet every time we walked back and forth. Plus, there were electrical fences along those paths which can be quite alarming as my son can attest to if you accidentally touch one. Would I stay there again? Yes of course. But realize what you're getting into before you go. Anything else I should say guys
Beautiful spot with a great view on a community farm. We had a ton of space and a picnic table at our campsite. It was rainy during our stay (cloud forest!) and the site has no trees to tie a tarp from, so I would reccomend bringing a standup canopy as a backup, if you prefer to cook and hang outside, though you could also take advantage of the farm's community center and its facilities! A very short walk to the gorgeous waterfall, which had a pool deep enough to swim in... super lovely. Axel was a very friendly and kind host! Would definitely reccommend, it's a peaceful spot!
Incredible place to camp- beautiful sunrise view from the tent, camping next to the river, swimming at the base of the waterfall, and hiking trails through diverse vegetation. Supporting a regenerative agriculture farm was an unexpected bonus. Axel is a very welcoming and generous host! We hope to be back again!
Great place to stay
Great location with a private waterfall, restroom and shower with hot water. Tent camping on the property is on the grass they have a picnic table available for your use. They also have little cabins not available yet. We were able to utilize one and it was an awesome experience. It had a Queen size bed on the bottom and another mattress on the loft that our two kids stayed on and loved. It has a deck that looks into a stream that leads up to the waterfall. I’d highly recommend this location for camping and soon a non powered cabin.
