Primitive camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Experience sweeping lake and mountain views from this private campsite nestled among the sagebrush and pines of the north Okanogan Highlands. Whether you're looking for adventure or serenity or something in between, there is fun to be had for each person and pup in your party: every water sport imaginable in the "Chelan of the North," hiking in thousands of acres of adjacent public land, exploring nearby ghost towns, mountain biking, taking in a local band at a nearby winery or brewery, or simply soaking in the campsite vistas with your favorite beverage and a good book from sunrise to sunset. Our property is located on 20 acres off of a private road overlooking Oroville, WA and Osoyoos, BC with Lake Osoyoos straddling the border between the two towns. Despite the expansive views, and proximity to town (~15 minutes), the site is incredibly private and quiet.Experience sweeping lake and mountain views from this private campsite nestled among the sagebrush and pines of the north Okanogan Highlands. We'll be making improvements next spring, such as a picnic table, a large deck with Adirondack chairs, wifi, and propane firepit. In the meantime, you can enjoy the amazing views and proximity to so many fun activities for all ages/interests. We're noting a few important things below to help you make your decision to stay at Gold Rush Vista. Our neighbors on adjoining 20 acre parcels enjoy their privacy and solitude too! Sound does carry, so please keep noise/music at a respectful level. Cell service is 1-3 bars. Call quality may not always be great, but texting is generally fine with Verizon and AT&T. This is a dry campsite, so you must have an RV/trailer with a self-contained restroom and bring all potable water needed with you. 30 and 50-amp hookups are available. Dogs are allowed but should be well controlled and kept to the property if off-leash. We ask you to kindly pick up their waste on trails, driveway, and in the main camping area. Wildlife includes bears, coyotes, wolves, turkeys, and many other small critters typical of the Okanogan Highlands ecoregion. Rattlesnakes are present in this area but are rarely seen. Shooting is not allowed on the property or within the greater 9 Mile Ranch. You can access USFS public land behind the property, but we ask that you get all the way over the hill before you plink. Consult Onyx or Gaia before you hike up the hill to ensure you are only trekking on public land. Cows commonly range in this area. Absolutely NO wood fires allowed. This area has burn bans in effect every summer. Propane fires are ok.
