This property was once a show home, but a fire took place over 10 years ago and the house was not rebuilt. While the ruins that remain are minimal, it sets an interesting backdrop; perhaps it can be the scene for a mysterious photo shoot. We have been actively working on cleaning up the property, but there are the occasional spots where we find left over fire debris that the previous occupant scattered through the property. If you happen to find such a spot during your stay please do let us know.
Within the property is a small orchard with apples, blueberries, blackberries, grapes, and plumbs. While you are more than welcome to graze during your stay, we ask that you not harvest a great deal to ensure there is enough for everyone to enjoy.
There are fish in the pond, and though fishing is allowed, we can not make claim to what type or ease of due to the nature of the plant growth. It is not stocked and only fed by the area waterways.
Please note that we are actively working with the DNR Forestry on a forest management plan which will be including removing dead and diseased trees. As of this spring you may see blue paint or flagging throughout the property, this is related to that effort. This cleanup effort will take place in the fall winter months and the campsites will be shut down during that time. A bridge will be built across the creek and before replanting begins in March 2023 we are planning on building a trail system as part of this reconditioning effort.
I have been asked several times if the fire ban is actually still active. Yes it is. However, if you have a self contained solo stove or the likes, that would be ok with me. At this time due to the large number of dead or dying trees on the property it makes me nervous that I am not there to ensure embers are put out. There is no longer access to being able to use a hose for instance so being able to quickly put out a fire in case of an accident is also more concerning in nature. Sadly with the last several years of intense summers our area is likely going to be in a drought risk again this summer.
If you are interested in reserving the entire property for a completely secluded stay please contact me directly, as that is an option for $175 for a party of up to 20 individuals, but no more than 2 camper vans/rv and 4 a night additional cars.
