A land trust in the Sequatchie Valley, on the edge of the Cumberland Escarpment, featuring a 1000’ elevation change, bluffs, canyons, plateaus, ridges, creeks, waterfalls, trails, and caves with both sculpted and micro environments, all sacred. A close drive to Cumberland Folk School and numerous renowned Cumberland Plateau TN State Parks. We have comfortable beds to come home to after exploring with forest views as you rejuvenate with your hot shower or tub, and replenish with all of the kitchen amenities. Or, book a massage or cave exploration here before enjoying our art gallery with handmade pottery, glass lamp work, kaleidescopes, and copper electroformed magical tools and jewels! Access to our two mile trail and creek (when running,) are granted with your stay so you may explore the local flora and fauna right outside of your door! Our Arboretum trail and guidebook are an excellent way to become familiar with the plants around you! Although there is a noon check out, you may remove your belongings and vehicles from the Mud Dauber site and park at the property entrance and stay to enjoy the land until sunset on the day of your scheduled departure:) ***Please message us to request a Sunday as part of a longer stay. With the expansiveness of this land, for safety, it is important to only explore the area around your site and to stay on the geomarked trails unless you are being guided by one of us. Cave, bluff hikes, and additional on-land adventures extra and by appointment only. Massage therapy available on site. This artistic, earthen, off-grid structure near multiple TN State Parks & waterfalls with an on-site massage therapist, was hand-built 20 years ago, and offers both sky views in the kitchen and bathing area, and underground rock-hugs in the living room area on the main floor. Custom stained glass and creatively moulded cobb walls embellish the low-ceilinged upstairs bedroom (slouch not crouch) where you wake up viewing the forest. **message us to request Sundays for multiple day stays*** This stunning and unique dwelling is modestly lit with battery operated LED lights (bring your headlamps and lanterns!) Spring water from the mountain is on tap and connected to an on-demand propane heater for bathing in the shower or soaking in the claw foot iron tub. A three burner propane stove with kettle, and enameled cast iron pans and basic kitchen utensils and dinnerware are provided (all dishes must be left clean!). Battery can be provided for minimal basic power needs. Fridge style cooler with ice block can be provided. A queen memory foam mattress sits atop a king mattress upstairs, and can be separated for two beds to remain upstairs. One no see um mosquito net is provided. An XL twin memory foam mattresses with bamboo sheets on the main floor. All memory foam mattresses are 10” thick. Additional beds for added guests: Two tri-fold 6” deep 31” wide memory foam mattresses and one regular twin mattress, and two cots available. All of the beds are lounge style on the floor (no box springs.) This site is best suited for 2-4 people for ample floor room during the day. Using the space to sleep 5-8 will have the beds take up all floor space but can be easily put away during the day and is great for crashing after adventuring! Composting toilet is a short walk up the trail. Propane heater can be provided in the winter. This earthen home has dirt to touch. We sweep and wipe clean, yet the stones and earthen walls are not scrubbed and this dirt is sacred. Countertops, tub, and sink are always clean. The windows are continuously gathering layers of forest and have great viewing, yet are not squeaky-squeegeed-crystal clear as maintaining this would be a very silly full time job;) Access to our two mile, geo-marked hiking trail loop is included, along with our Arboretum trail and guidebook to get to know the plants around you! Additional difficult trails, bluff, climbing, and cave experiences are guided and by appointment only at an additional cost as they require great attention. A relaxing off grid retreat. All other structures on the land are in use and private. •Most cellular services work. •Cars with low undercarriages are not advised as the road up can be rough on a low undercarriage. If staying multiple nights, please inquire about us driving your items up (approximately 3/4mile.) •Several months of the year, the creek is running, which needs to be crossed by a vehicle. Most vehicles that do not have a low undercarriage are fine, yet in the event of a big rain, your vehicle will need to be left on the other side of the creek and your gear shuttled, to ensure you may exit by not being able to cross back over at the end of your stay. ~Take skill classes at the incredible neighboring CumberlandFolkSchool.com ••We are close to many of the amazing Cumberland Plateau trails•• * Foster Falls Recreation Area 13.6mi * Savage Gulf South Trailhead 11mi * Greeter Falls at South Cumberland State Park 16.8mi *Fall Creek Falls 26.3mi *Grundy Forest State Natural Area 16.1mi AND many MORE!! Again, please message us to request Sundays for longer stays or to book Sunday Massages. This is the perfect place to venture out to all of the incredible TN state parks over multiple days, and come home to hot showers and comfy beds and rehab with massage. Liquidambar Art Gallery at the bottom of the hill is open on Saturdays and Sundays, or by appointment. You may remove your belongings and vehicles from the Mud Dauber site and park at the property entrance and stay to enjoy the land until sunset on the day of your scheduled departure:)
