Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
One-Of-A-Kind natural delight! Hike up 300 feet to The Hideout: your PRIVATE, GLAMPING experience. Nestled in the woods, the Hideout provides comfort for nature lovers & relaxation for adventurers. Feel the cool mountain breeze as you look through the trees across the meadow to the Blue Ridge Mountain range. Invite the outside in while you rest in the sleeping quarters. Quiet, peaceful, natural & unique. Not completely off-grid, but a “low grid” luxury experience for you & your companion.THE SPACE If you are looking for peace and quiet, the Hideout is perfect for you. Whether you want to retreat from the city or go adventure hiking and biking, you will love it here. Because it is a low-grid, unique glamping experience there are some features we want you to be aware of. The Hideout is fed by fresh, cold, mountain spring water. But with that comes low-pressure running water. The Hideout does have a flushing toilet, outdoor shower, electricity, and 5G access but it DOES NOT HAVE WiFi or a TV. (Free WiFi available at Appalachian Java- 15 mins from Hideout). Enjoy a quality night’s sleep in the interestingly designed a-frame. Use the private “Loo with A View” Dutch-door bathroom just a few steps down the path. Take an afternoon nap under the shade trees in the hammock. Each night have dinner on the deck, watching a breath-taking mountain sunset, then gaze at the certified Dark Sky for shooting stars and the Milky Way Galaxy. The Hideout is exactly what you are looking for your next get away. GUEST ACCESS You will have your own slice of our woods for your stay. From the parking space up to the Hideout and on up to the hammock, to the barbed wire fence overlooking the meadow, to the stars above, you can explore all the natural beauty around you. VERY IMPORTANT TO READ BEFORE YOU BOOK 1. The ONLY way to the Hideout is by hiking uphill 300 feet. It’s steep so please wear hiking shoes or boots at all times when staying with us. You will need soles with treads as the terrain around the sight is uneven. We recommend carrying your things in backpacks rather than suitcases. The less you pack in food and clothing the easier it will be to climb the hill. We do provide some goodies for our guests to enjoy. We recommend taking your time hiking in - the view is AMAZING along the way! 2. Being in the mountains we share our space with majestic animals of all kinds such as deer, turkey, hawks, bald eagles, squirrels, chipmunks, hummingbirds, and song birds. But we also share it with some other kinds like spiders, ants, mice, snakes, bears, flies, beetles and other bugs. We do our ABSOLUTE BEST to make sure these other kinds stay away. However, if even the prospect of the sight or sound of any of these animals or bugs causes you distress, we kindly suggest you book a chain hotel in the big city of Asheville. The experience at the Hideout is not a hotel experience, but an experience in the simplicity of life, the solitude of nature, and an adventure in uniqueness. 3. The Hideout sits on a completely private slice of our 1.5 acre homestead property. It is also a small working honey bee farm called “Natural Buzz” with active bee hives. If you are allergic please take note and stay at your own risk. If you aren’t and want to learn more about the magnificent honey bee please ask us about our Hideout & Hive packages. We also have a small flock of chicken hens on our farm. They free range around the property and may even visit the Hideout to say hello. Ask us about our Hideout & Hens packages. 4. The outdoor shower is only open during the warm months. Please read the sign in the shower picture before booking - sometimes it’s hot, sometimes it’s cold. Our water supply is natural, mountain spring water, gravity fed from a spring on our property. It’s cold and refreshing and safe to drink right out of the tap! But remember that all good things come to those who wait. Water doesn’t climb mountains fast, so the water pressure in the Hideout is like cooking BBQ ribs, low and slow. If you prefer an indoor shower or during inclement weather, day passes for $10/person are available at Blue Ridge Fitness & Rehab Center in Burnsville NC. Includes full access to gym & locker room with showers. 5. During the summer months we cool the Hideout with a water fed Air Cooler. This is a high efficiency alternative to Air Conditioning. It works to bring the temperature down by several degrees, by cooling down the hot air. The Air Cooler can also be used as another fan. There is also a ceiling fan, window, and screen door in the Hideout. 6. During the colder months, the Hideout will be equipped with a portable Little Buddy indoor-safe propane heater. It will heat the sleeping quarters for a cozy night’s sleep. We also provide electric heated blankets for each bed. Extra regular blankets will also be provided.
