Magical Lakefront Retreat Property

7 sites · Lodging5 acres · Spicewood, TX
Just featured on CBS's show "STAYCATION!" Enchantment and tranquility embody our Whimsical Lakeside Romantic Retreat property nestled in the hill country on Lake Travis, just outside of Austin, TX. This magical space is the perfect backdrop for a variety of special events, including weddings, corporate retreats, yoga and mindfulness retreats, reunions, birthdays, girl's weekends and bachelorette parties, & many other special occasions. 7 total accommodations starring a Luxury Straw Bale Villa, 3 Eco-Cabins, a Cottage, and 2 Unique Safari Tents. Our main house, 'La Casa de Joy,' is a stunning luxury straw bale villa (once featured on HGTV) that is truly the perfect gathering space for a variety of special occasions and memorable events. Originally built by an artist & healer, her creative intention and style is felt throughout the entire property. Living Waters is blessed with an abundance of nature, including deer, birds, butterflies, crickets, hummingbirds, & more. You may wake up to the deer sleeping just outside your accommodation. Indulge you and your group by taking advantage of our on-site private yoga, massage, personal training, and facial services, and kayak, canoe, and stand-up paddle board rentals. We recommend local activities such as a wine tasting at Stone House Vineyard (walking distance), a swim/picnic at Krause Springs spring-fed pool, or an eco-adventure at Cypress Valley Canopy Tours. This unique property is a tranquil and rejuvenating respite in the hill country on Lake Travis, therefore it's not ideal for loud parties. We love animals, but we are a non-pet-accommodating property due to the abundant wildlife present. We look forward to making memories with you....

Talula Mesa

3 sites · Lodging15 acres · Marble Falls, TX
Ultra-comfortable Glamping in a hybrid tent/cabin (with AC and heat) = the ultimate getaway. We've supplied everything you need - paddleboards, kayaks, yard games, an outdoor movie station, fire pit, grill, refrigerator, coffee, hammocks, yoga mats and more. Big views of the hill country and Lake Travis greet you at every turn. Lake Travis access - 1 min away. Flat Creek Winery - 10 mins away. Relax in style while enjoying the hill country. Wake up in a comfy, luxurious king-sized bed to a gorgeous view of the lake, have coffee in a hammock overlooking the sweeping views. Air-conditioning is available (halleluja!). Heat via propane fireplace is available when it gets chilly. Wooden floors and walls will keep you insulated from the elements, while floor-to-ceiling windows allow you to take in the private lake views, and a zippered tent opening at the front helps to keep in the AC. Grand Tent Details: - King bed (our mattresses get rave reviews, don't worry) - Small queen loft (best for kids age 5+, but adults have been known to stay in the loft, too. The loft in this tent, the Grand Aztec, is smaller than the lofts in the other two large tents, the Grand Arrow and Grand Tesoro. The queen mattress is this loft is squeezed a bit, so it’s best for 1 adult, although 2 can share as long as you’re prepared for it to be a little tight.) - Seating area - Air conditioning - Mini-fridge - Coffee & tea station (french press) - 2 USB charging stations plus 2 outlets - Propane fire place (winter only) - Electric blanket (winter only) - 1 Hammock that can be hung either indoors or outdoors, or moved to other hammock stations around the property to enjoy the views and the breeze. - Both front and back covered porches - Outdoor blankets included for outdoor movies * No animals, including Emotional Support Animals* Also available (under a separate listing) is a Mini Tent that's great for kids and adults who don't need all of the space and amenities in a Grand Tent. The bathroom: A shared bathhouse includes: 2 outdoor showers and sinks (hot water included), and 1 toilet. Shared amenities on the property include (subject to availability; we cannot guarantee something won’t be broken right before your stay): - Fire pit and "cook's station" (grill, refrigerator, microwave picnic tables) - Movie projector and outdoor screen - Picnic areas - Sunrise yoga and meditation spot overlooking the lake - Ponds - Small hiking trails - Yard games (Corn Hole, Can Jam, volleyball, badminton, bocce ball) - Kayaks and paddle boards are available for you to borrow. A note about AC: We have installed very powerful window style AC units. In general, the AC unit can cool 15 degrees off of the outside temp. If the outdoor temp reaches 100 during the peak of the day, it might be 85 in your tent. At night a d in the morning, when the outside air temp cools to the low 70s, your tent can be very cool. What’s the difference between our 4 tents? At Talula Mesa we offer 4 glamping tents, each 100 to 300 ft apart for privacy, all with great views of the hill country. Three tents are large (Grand), and one is small (Mini). The 3 Grand tents are nearly identical, with slightly varying decor. The main difference is in the tents’ locations on our property and corresponding view. - The Grand Aztec: Provides the most open view of the lake and hill country. Located central on the property near the main fire pit and common areas. - The Grand Arrow: Also has a lake view, but with more trees, less open than the Grand Aztec. Located closer to the entrance of our property, farther from the common areas. Adirondack chairs and a hammock area is just out back (lakeside). - The Grand Tesoro: Private hill country view across the properties ravine. Located closest to the bathhouse, very central on our property. Also near the common areas. A private chiminea fire area under a grove of trees is nearby. The price for Grand tents is based on double or triple occupancy. A fourth guest is welcome for an additional fee ($50/nt), which you’ll see at booking. The Mini Aztec: Located between the Grand Aztec and Grand Arrow tents, with a private view of the lake and hills, and a private chiminea area. For younger children (age 8+) who want to sleep in the mini tent, we recommend the Grand Arrow for the parents because the mini is within view of the Grand Arrow porch. The Grand Tents have a maximum occupancy of 3 guests. We may allow for a fourth guest upon request for an additional fee ($50/nt). Guest access You'll have access to the entire 15 acres, including some walking/hiking trails. You cannot enter other guests' tents (without invitation, of course).

Lakeside glamping near Canyon Lake guide

Overview

To really understand Texas Hill Country, you have to get away from the buzzy metropolitan areas and escape to the rugged limestone cliffs carved by the majestic Guadalupe River. Canyon Lake is a quintessential Hill Country destination, with its beauty on display for hikers, swimmers, and tubers—and one of the best ways to experience it is on a camping trip. Make Canyon Lake your home base with day trips to nearby attractions like Natural Bridge Caverns and quaint small towns to make the most of your time.

Where to go

New Braunfels

Like nearby Fredericksburg, small towns like New Braunfels and Gruene (pronounced “Green”) embrace their German heritage through cuisine and holiday traditions. Gruene is home to one of Texas’s oldest dance halls, still hosting live music and dancing, while New Braunfels offers another beautiful spring-fed river, the Comal River, which delights throngs of tubers on summer weekends.

Wimberley

Wimberley mixes creativity and nature, serving as the homebase of many singer-songwriters. You can snag some great locally made finds during Wimberley Market Days on the first Saturday of each month between March through December, but even better, you’ll find some of the most Instagrammed Texas swimming holes near Wimberley: Jacob’s Well and Blue Hole, both refreshing swimming spots with green-blue water beckoning visitors to go for a dip.

When to go

To get the most out of your outdoor itinerary in Canyon Lake, we recommend visiting from March through November. Summer temperatures can be quite high in Hill Country, but it’s the best time for tubing down the Guadalupe River. Spring and fall are ideal for camping and hiking, while winter months can also be quite mild as well, aside from the errant cold snap. During the holidays, it’s fun to explore the multicultural traditions of San Antonio and the small Hill Country towns.
