Camp Mountain Lake Retreats 

This Camp originally was a girls and boys camp. Started by Colonel Reynolds in 1947 every summer it was opened for campers from all over the United States. Coach Moore, of Sewanee, the University of the South, took over in the early 1980s. My husband Charles Kildgore, was a counselor in training in 1974. When it came up for sale we couldn't help but purchase it to reclaim the history of what it once was.Learn more about this land:Pitch your tent and enjoy the beauty of nature near many hiking trails, lakes and a small town that hosts many quaint eateries and local arts.Located directly across from Camp Mountain Lake Retreats, Basecamp is a 6 tent camp site reclaimed from the original horse stable and riding ring.. Glamping at Deer Camp Cabin

We build from the heart with blue prints and Deer Camp was a thought that started on the back of a receipt and grew into a 12x12 cozy cabin. We have 13 acres and we share with that Deer Camp. Only enough land has been cleared for structures so it's all wooded and every structure was built by us and is unique and one of a kind. 

Outdoor movie theater available for use March through December. Complete with hammock chairs, cozy blankets, propane fire ring, and all the movies you love on the big screen.

With a comfy bed and windows that open all around it's the perfect place to relax.

On the deck of the cabin you'll find a kitchen with everything you could need to fix a meal.

The bathroom is amazing and has a wonderful view of the woods.

You'll find a picnic table by the fire if you want to enjoy a meal outside.

The Falls at Sewanee Creek

45 private acres on our homestead for you to roam.  Seven eclectic sites to choose from ranging from primitive camping to a lovely log cabin.  All except the log cabin lovingly built by the owner, loaded with creative touches.

Disclaimer: The flow of the waterfall is subject to fluctuations in temperature, seasonal droughts, & rain fall. The most favorable seasons for waterfall flow are fall, winter & early spring.

We came to this magical place to found a self-reliant, homesteading eco-community when I retired from corporate life in 2006. It's called the Village on Sewanee Creek, named for the creek 800 feet below the bluff where we are located.

I traveled the world as a senior executive for Baskin-Robbins, Dunkin' Donuts, Papa Johns, Blockbuster, 7-Eleven and other retail franchises, making the world safe for Pizza, Ice Cream, Pancakes Video Rentals and American convenience. And I was ready for something more fufilling. I scouted for a place of exquisite natural beauty and I found it here. I bought way too much land just before the real estate bust and learned how to turn a nice fortune into a very small one. 

I faced challenges and had lots of fun. Now I want to share our experience. It's
the Village 2.0 for guests. Or not. Life in the city is OK as long as you can get away frequently.

I'm convinced if you love nature and the outdoors, this is the best place to celebrate it.

Sway Camping is a private, Off Grid camping experience in Rock Island TN. 
Situated between Isha Yoga center, Fall Creek Falls, and Rock Island state park, this property is something special.  Each campsite offers a private space perfect for getting away, or large enough for family and groups.  Pet Friendly property with lots of room to be a part of nature along the beautiful Rocky River.  Camp along the river or up in your own private forest.  One of the darkets skies around so be ready for some stargazing at night by the fire.

This is a property I purchased in 2018 to create a camping experience that reflected the image of camping as a kid. This isn’t a "hotel without walls." This is real camping. No phone signal. No electric wires. Just nature and beauty in a quiet environment.  

Get lost or find yourself relaxing along the Rocky River. Stay in a hammock, a tent, camper, RV, or one of our cabins. Privacy and freedom is what we are about. Pet friendly camping that should be shared, but please don't tell everyone you know.  Only your favorite people..  Then come camp!

Camp Chet

Camp Chet was founded with the purpose to help people encounter God through outdoor experiences. It encompasses 994 acres of private forested land on Whitwell Mountain, which is part of the Cumberland Plateau in Southeast Tennessee.   Take a hike on miles of trails comprised of forest paths, old wagon roads, or coal mining roads.  If you find a chunk of coal on the ground feel free to take it home with you as a souvenir.  If you are a history buff, you may be interested in discovering previous caretakers from the late 1800's and early 1900's in nearby cemeteries.  The camp ground is on top of a mountain, and you will have to go through a locked gate and drive over a mile and half on a bumpy gravel/dirt road. You will be most comfortable in a vehicle that is suitable for rugged terrain.Day trips less than an hour away include the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, Rock City, Ruby Falls, Nickajack Lake and Bat Cave among many others. Come to hike, relax, bike, explore, and recharge.
