Hacienda Monte Rey near El Yunque

The property has been in the Monge family since the late 1940's bought by Jose Monge Marquez. The campsite is located in a private property in the outskirts of El Yunque Rainforest in the town of Luquillo. The campsite areas and facilities are about 8 out of 43 acres of all the private property of rainforest, flowers, palm trees, and various fruit trees.

The Sabana River, one of many that originate from El Yunque National Rainforest, the river goes through the property. All the campsites are close by the river with each having their own access and individual fire pits.

The local attractions are:

-El Yunque National Rainforest 15 minute drive up the mountain.

-Las Paylas rockslides (2 minute drive & 8 minutes walking).

-The Luquillo beaches which are La Pared, Playa Azul, Barneario de Luquillo. Los Kioskos de Luquillo, ect. (10 minutes drive).

This property was once a religious shrine. It was purchased by an American Rock Star as a pet sanctuary. Once we bought this place we though it was appropriate to call it, “The Sanctuary.” We use a portion of the income at this property to help our nieces/nephew's with their schooling and college.

Barefoot Travelers Rooms Guesthouse

We came down here from New England in 1997 because we were invited by some locals to teach hanggliding here.  At that time as certified HG instructors we thought ok lets try..came down here with our backpacks, a few hang gliders, and figured we would see how it worked out. Renting places to stay for a few years and including rooms for visiting students we had this opportunity to get and fix up this old house. It was a continuation of my dream to have a back pack travelers , adventure travelers, artists, LBGTQ friendly, off the beaten path type of place to stay.

And so in 2004 Barefoot Travelers Rooms and Adventures Guesthouse was born.

She even had a little cooler for me to use, which became my best friend and new life essential. 😹

Su reservación es en un espacio reservado para que pueda poner su propia caseta en el área designada a ecoger, siempre respetando el ambiente y su entorno. Si desea caseta, cama, sillas y/o inodoro, se les puede alquilar a un bajo costo adicional. Los espacios cuentan con mini-bbq. Como ayuda extra para su alojamiento contamos con inodoro-eco y ducha-eco con agua caliente (se comparte). También tenemos inodoro portátil de pago.

La fogata (a petición) es supervisada por el anfitrión.

Jubilee Campsite Swim & Paint

Jubilee Campsite Swim &; Paint offers 50 acres of unspoiled tropical beauty.  Land includes a grotto on river and mountain hiking.  Additionally a new infiniti style pool (22') is included as well as an outdoor art studio with acrylic paints, small canvas, brushes, pastels, charcoal provided at a modest cost. Views of Vieques Island and El Yunque rain forest as well as the Caribbean Sea. Located in Eastern Puerto Rico with a short drive to the eastern beaches. Restaurants are in both nearby towns of Las Piedras and Humacao. Short on tents so if possible please bring your own tent. (Site #3 road now blocked due to landslide). 

After a day of hiking and camping time for a relaxing swim.

NFA Glamping Pets

Stay under the sky camping with family, friends, and your pets in our unique camping site. The climate is cool year-round, and the temperature is between 58-75 Fahrenheit degrees and the community is charming. The area includes a shower made out of bamboo from the place and gives you a spectacular opportunity to connect with nature while bathing. Gathering around the fire pit with mystical colors creates a wonderful atmosphere to tell out stories. It is a wonderful place to bring your companion pets.

Inside the Scenic Route, our place provides you with a unique experience to reconnect with nature and yourself. The climate is ideal to get cozy with your loved ones, including your pets, and get up slowly between clouds of fog. Over 500 squared meters of half fenced land will provide you a space to explore barefoot with your companion pets.

This open space also provides you with the essentials for a special evening: wine glasses, bottle openers, warm towels, led lamps, and a drink mixer set.

At evening warm up near the fire pit. Matches and fuel are available in the lavatory area. Make the night even more special, adding a pouch of sparkling colors (available for every night) where you can roast some marshmallows and s'mores.

Inhale fresh air far from the city and the noises. Lie down under the sky and watch the stars and fireflies during a clear night.

The camping site has a private entrance with a self check-in gate. Parking spot is located outside the property so you must be willing to walk downhill to access the area. We only use solar or batteries lights.

Outside dining table included.

Guest can explore around the premises at his/her own risk. Pets should remain on leash. Please, do not cross to the neighbors yards uninvited. Hiking jewels can be found at 20 minutes drive: Las Tetas between Cayey-Salinas, Canon San Cristobal between Aibonito-Barranquitas, and Bosque Carite, Cayey. 

Other things to note

Property is not fully fenced.

Nights can be really colds so bring your jackets.

The place uses solar lights, doesn't have electricity, so be prepared to connect with nature.

Guest should bring his own food. Coal available no extra cost.

Area can accommodate a few other camping tents for an extra charge.

There is a private greenhouse in the property where you can buy exotic plants.

Please note that this is a residential area. Noises should be avoided. Pick up your garbage. Parking is located outside the property. Respect private property around the camping site.
