Property is rustic now, but improvements will continue to be made as time goes on. Come help me develop this beautiful location into the best Hipcamp in New Mexico. Just 14 miles of the Chile Capital of the World, Hatch, NM, come during chile harvest to take home fresh green chile right out of the field. 21 miles from Las Cruces, where you will find plenty of events and entertainment, should you so desire. Spaceport, America, T or C, White Sands are all within a day's drive, and Fort Selden is just a few miles down the road, as is Blue Moon Bar and Grill. My dad first came to this property as a farm hand for the elderly couple who owned it. This was in the 1930's. He met my mother, who lived 6 miles down the road, in 1939. She was just 14. Every Sunday he would ride those 6 miles to have supper with her and her family and in 1940, 2 weeks after her 16th birthday, they married. They traveled around before coming back here, buying a small portion of this farm from the elderly owners and farming the rest for them, but in 1953, the man died (his name was Ernest Ward) in the small concrete house I now use for storage, that my dad had built for he and his wife when he first came to work for them. My parents built a home for his widow in Hatch (14 miles) and bought the farm from her. My family has owned it since. I was gone for 31 years, but returned to the land and place I love and plan to stay here till I die!

This is a quaint, cozy space designed and decorated with a mix of natural materials, old desert wood and old metal found on the property or nearby. There are 2 beds (full and a twin), 10 ft sloped ceiling, sink with cold running water- no hot water, flushing toilet, mini-refrigerator, electric 2 burner stove, toaster oven, heater, plates, forks, cups, cookware and electricity. There are curtains and sun blockers for privacy. When you wake up in the morning you will watch the sun rise over Turtleback Mountain. 1 block away is the Rio Grande and Rotary Park. It's 4 blocks to the main. Located in the downtown area and hot springs district, the property has a well that draws out the hot springs at about 98 degrees and pours it in to an outdoor tub- perfect for a warm winter day or summer evenings. It can be reserved for an additional fee upon arrival. 4 blocks from the downtown area you can easily access other spas, restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, thrift shops, and the grocery store. Wake up in the morning, walk down to the river and you'll see heron, coots, osprey, sandhill crane, red wing black birds, and so many more wildlife. The coyotes regularly sing throughout the night. I tend the property and you may see me around if I need to do light repair work. There is a care taker for the property who lives there and may be another guest as well. The property is 1/2 a city block. Your living quarters are private but the land is shared space. I'm available to engage if desired and I respect your privacy. The property is 6 city lots large and you will have access to 4 of them. Dogs are allowed for an additional fee. You must be responsible to clean up after them and they must be friendly with strangers.

The non profit charity organization is called Equine Safe Haven, a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization teaches horsemanship and carriage driving, using horses that were on the list to transport to Mexico for slaughter. Come pet and love on them, as they have a second chance in life and the program makes a difference to those that are economically or physically disadvantaged. We have water hydrant fill stations, and a BBQ area for you to use. Please ask when you arrive. We can accommodate any size RV up to and including tractor trailers. We have two 50 amp sites and one 30 amp site if you need electric. Check in info: CHECK IN TIME: BETWEEN 3pm and 8pm -if you are tent camping please get here before sunset - it gets VERY dark here (great for stargazing) , and hard to see in the back acreage. You can even take a picture by the Tipi, the Wagon Wheel Dream Catcher, or sitting on the 420 Tractor! Imagine setting your tent while listening to the creek just a few steps down the path. Gaze up at the beautiful stars while sitting at your campfire. Quail Camp - This spot is a nice smooth grassy area which is the largest of our sites. It's surrounded by Black Walnut Trees, Junipers, and Trees of Heaven. Hawk Camp - This is the smallest of our sites, but it's nuzzled up in a nook of Trees of Heaven and is closest to the Sacred Meditation space with a nice trail that goes right over to it! Eagle Camp - This is the most secluded site we have, which is set on soft fluffy grass. It's nestled up to some Black Walnut and Trees of Heaven. The corner of this camp has it's own path to the creek and you'll find some blackberry brambles along the way!We have firewood available for purchase.Water is available from the Campground Well. We have paths and trails that lead along the creek to explore. A bathroom is available at the neighboring campground. A bathroom you can rent (with a shower) is just up the path at the Kingston Clay Company Coffee Shop.
