Our retirement dream is to share our beautiful property with people who love the outdoors.  We started with our rustic tent sites and slowly added cabins.  We go from primitive to sites with heat and air conditioning.  We are not far from the Interstate but sure seems like we are as you travel the 4.6 miles of gravel road to step back in time.

This property has a year round running creek called Bear Creek. They also mined the stone off the property for the State Capital in Des Moines, Iowa. Abundant wildlife and mature beautiful trees.

RV Spots have electric at the site, water to fill your tanks with and we have a dump station on the way out.  

Cabin rental $150.00 night for the first two people.  $10.00 each person after the first two. 

The Tensile site, a tent/hammock hybrid you can sleep in!

Our property was once the County Home until it was closed due to regulatory changes to the mental health industry. The property sat vacant for 2 years as a deficit for the county and its taxpayers. We had a plan to breathe new life into this property by re-opening as a non-profit Art, Community, and Retreat Center.  We are in the heart of the rolling hills surrounding Guthrie Center & Lake Panorama.  It is simply an amazing place.  Please come and see what makes this experience unique.  Learn more about this land:Peaceful farm setting in the rolling hills of Guthrie County, Iowa. My wife and I wanted to raise our kids in the country as we both grew up on farms. The old farmhouse sits quietly and secluded from the road and the southern view of farm fields, woodlands and peace. The town of Corning or Clarinda are just 20 miles away if you desire small Iowa towns. Enjoy the sound of frogs, crickets and wildlife.

We have a garden in the spring, high speed internet if you want to stay connected or open the door and enjoy country air. 2 bedrooms upstairs and 2 downstairs. If you want to practice bow shooting or enjoy a bonfire we can accommodate that.
Also room to park RV. 
We love pets but we ask that you pick up after them and keep an eye on them as there is plenty of room for them to run.

You can camp, wander, head down the road to Viking Lake. Easy, relaxing and not too many rules. I don't do trash, unattended firepits or really loud gatherings past dusk. I love to camp but, this is our oasis.  We also have outdoor dogs that help keep the coyotes and wildlife at bay. The means that they may bark at night.
