Pets can be off-leash at this Hipcamp.
Nestled deep within the woods of Florissant, C.O lies our property, Summit Relief. Here you’ll find our off-grid camper, The Hike. Seclusion and privacy are two words that will come to mind as soon as you arrive. This camper and property are completely off the grid, meaning there is no running water, electricity, or bathrooms. There is also no cell phone service, allowing you the opportunity to disconnect, unwind, and truly relax. Our camper is equipped with a small solar panel, which allows you to charge a phone, use the campers indoor/outdoor lights, and play the Bluetooth speaker. We provide 7 gallons of non-potable water to be used for dishes, hand washing, showers, and flushing the indoor toilet. Please note, the camper toilet may ONLY be used for peeing, absolutely NO pooping. We have an outdoor set up for going number 2 :) The camper is equipped with a two burner stove and refrigerator/freezer that runs off propane and will be available to use. The camper is also equipped with a heater that runs off propane. We provide the necessary equipment for cooking as well as making coffee and tea. If you’re ready to escape the hustle and bustle of modern living and step into mother natures embrace, book now!Located 15 miles down a dirt road off highway 24 or highway 102 is The Off Grid Hike. We recommend taking Highway 24, as the dirt road off 24 is in better shape than the dirt road off highway 102. Please note, while 4-wheel drive is not necessary, you will be driving on a dirt road that is rough in certain parts. Check weather prior to arrival as rain can make the dirt road hazardous. Please drive with caution. You must turn the solar battery on upon arrival. There is a storage compartment on the outside of the camper, on the side with the front door towards the front of the camper. Open it, put look inside and towards your left, along the wall you will see a switch. Turn it until it is green and says ON. This is how you will use the inside/outside lights, awning, heater, Bluetooth speak, & USB charging ports. The outlets will not work, the solar is not powerful enough. Only the wireless charger and the USB ports will work. Inside this same compartment are two outdoor chairs for your enjoyment. If you have food that needs to be refrigerated , immediately turn the fridge on so it can begin cooling. Press the On button, next press the button for GAS. It runs off propane, propane is already on once you arrive. If using the heater, only use right before going to sleep. The heater cannot run all night on the solar, it can only run half the night before it needs to charge with the sun. The heater controls are located on the wall next to the bathroom. Turn the switch to on (switch moved to the left) and set temperature on the bottom. The solar battery must be in the ON position for the heater to work. The inside camper toilet is for pee ONLY. Please follow this rule, it is extremely important. We are currently unable to dig deep enough to safely dispose of human waste. Use the provided non-potable water to flush pee. Only toilet paper may be flushed down the toilet, absolutely nothing else! Please dispose of wipes, feminine products, etc. in the provided trash can. For going number 2, please use the outside bathroom. The green tent is set up with a bucket toilet, a bucket trash can, toilet paper, wipes, hand sanitizer, trash bags for waste, and an ecowaste powder to neutralize smells. Once finished, pour a packet inside the trash bag and tie it up Place in the bucket trash can and close the lid. Please take all trash with you when leaving. This is a pack it in and pack it out spot to protect our local wildlife. Fires are only permitted in the fire pit. There is plenty of firewood to use. Inside the same compartment as the solar battery switch & camping chairs is an axe and saw for wood cutting. It is imperative that the fire is completely put out before going to sleep or leaving the property. NEVER leave fire or even embers unattended. It is a federal offense to start a wildfire. Please respect the forest, our property and the community by responsibly enjoying a fire. Smoking is only allowed outside. No smoking or vaping of any kind inside the camper. Please dispose of all trash in the outside trash bucket and take with you when leaving. Florissant is the last town before turning down the dirt road to our property, if you take Highway 24(recommended) and we highly suggest stopping here! There is a marker for all food supplies, fishing and camping. Attached is a liquor store as well. Costellos is the town coffee shop that has delicious breakfast burritos. Thunderbird Inn is the local bar that serves typical American Fare(cheeseburgers, hot dogs, etc) you can dine in or take out. Florissant Fossil Beds, Eleven Mile, Mueller State Park, and off-roading trails are located just a few miles away. There is even a Llama farm that you can visit! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions!
