All You Need is a 111 acre paradise that is home to some VERY unique and endangered habitat. Our northern boundary is a tract of DeSoto National Forest, where we have practically exclusive access to another 90 acres of longleaf pine savannah and more bottomland creeks. The sandhills are a "desert in the rain," home to prickly pear cactus and yuccas, abundant lichens (deer "moss"), the endangered black pine snake, and our mascot, the also endangered Gopher Tortoise. We're a nature education and retreat center where we share permaculture practices, homesteading/sustainable living skills, conservation practices, and approaches to connecting more deeply to the land. Check out our sister non-profit, the Burrow Nature Center. You will have access to our many walking paths and our swimming pond, as well as a 15 minute walk to part of DeSoto National Forest, which butts up to our property line. We would love to have you as our guest on the land, and are especially eager to meet travelers who deeply love nature and want to live in better relationship to it! We bought this property in April 2025 after working hard and long on a decade-long dream come true! It’s a fully wooded, 4 acre L-shaped property, currently home to three residents - myself, my mate, and my daughter. Every day we are working hard to cut pathways and new campsites for visitors, travelers, and potential community members. We are now hosting events, classes, and workshops; soon-to-be retreats and festivals. We are still in the earliest stages of building, so it’s a very rustic, off-grid experience. With more visitors, we plan to build cabins and install solar and water collection systems, so we can have outdoor showers, natural pools, outhouses, community areas, a retreat center, and shops for community members to run their businesses from. We are following food forest and permaculture methods instead of traditional gardening, and our long-term vision for this land is a new garden of Eden! We need all the help we can get, so we also offer volunteer trade opportunities to anyone interested. Well it's been closed forever seems like due to the COVID hype. Can anyone tell me a better way to social distance! I wonder if it's back open yet?

We loved camping at Cyprus Creek! We stayed over for one night at one of the campsites. There were only two other sites being used that night, and we chose a campsite a little ways from both of them. All total, there were eleven of us out there. We set up two hammocks, two tents, and two cots. It was beautiful and peaceful. The trash containers were empty and had bags in them. The bathrooms were nothing to write home about, but they were functional. There were two toilets and two showers. The creek has a little beach and a rope swing that looked very fun. The water was pretty cold when we went, so no swinging for us, although my kids did play in the water. Overall, this was an amazing experience and we can't wait to go back!
