At 6,700 feet of elevation on the banks of the Marble Fork of the Kaweah River, Lodgepole Campground is one of the best places to stay in Sequoia National Park. Its central location is close to the Lodgepole Visitors Center, the famed General Sherman tree, the Giant Forest grove, and the Moro Rock trailhead. This gorgeous campground is dotted with pine and fir trees and has views of nearby peaks, while campsites feature picnic tables, fire rings, bear-proof storage boxes, and access to flush toilets. Just a fourth-mile from the campground, Lodgepole Village offers a market, cafe, gift shop, and showers. The park’s free shuttle service also picks up and drops off here.

Tips for Snagging a Campsite Reservation

  • Planning ahead is a must when it comes to getting a spot at this popular campground. Lodgepole Campground sites become available online 4 months in advance starting at 7am PT. 
  • There are no first-come, first-served sites at Lodgepole, but cancellations do return online as "available" after they are processed.

    • When to go

    Lodgepole Campground typically opens in May and closes in November, depending on the snowpack. For current season info and weather conditions, contact the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks Ranger Station at (559) 565-3341. Sequoia crowds peak between June and August. If visiting in spring or fall, bring cold-weather camping gear for nighttime.

    Swimming in North Fork Tule River, miles of hiking trails on ranch. River Ridge Ranch goes from 1,000' elev. to 3,000' elevation. Hike right on the ranch. We are between Sequoia National Park (about an hour) and the Giant Sequoia National Monument (16 miles to groves up Hwy 190 and no entrance fee). Choose from individual tent sites, group tent sites, tiny cabins. the 5-acre Compound or the Entire Ranch. We occasionally host small, thoughtful, low impact weddings. Please inquire. There are 33 giant sequoia groves in our Southern Region of the Giant Sequoia National Monument, some easily driven to, and some remote. Our ranch is a nature preserve and an education demonstration site, teaching sustainable and regenerative land use practices. River Ridge Institute, our non-profit, hosts a variety of events for the public. Please note: you are expected to leave the ranch and kitchen area as you found it, i.e., dishes washed thoroughly and dried and put away, recycling separated from trash, food scraps in compost buckets, sticky marshmallow removed from forks and surfaces (ick!).     This is a essentially a private campsite with a million dollar view during the day, and wonderful stargazing at night! We welcome dogs and don't charge additional fees for you to bring your dog(s) to camp. The park allows dogs into the park BUT NOT ON ANY TRAILS! (Only the national “forests” allow dogs on trails, not national parks.) PLEASE, let us know you are bringing dog(s), when you request to book. We currently have 2 dogs - our boy Chance is a 6yo Husky Doberman mix; and we rescued and are fostering a (approx 3yo) Great Dane, Winston! Unfortunately, we can NOT dog sit your dog(s) while you are in the park having 2 large male dogs in our house. Also you can not leave the dog alone in the campsite. We are in Three Rivers - the southern Ash Mountain gateway to the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Our town has some wonderfully unique restaurants, creative shops and even a delicious brewery with seating next to the River! Our hillside property has great Mountain View’s and the driveway turns directly off of Sierra drive, four miles past the town center (3R post office) and just 2 miles from the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks entrance. There’s even a convenience store a quarter mile away! It's conveniently located and easy to find! You can (seasonally) hear the tranqual sounds, or all out roar of the flowing Kaweah river from across the street. Sorry, there is NO river access from this campsite. You can go to Slick Rock Recreation area, Lake Kaweah or into the parks to swim, boat, fish and more. Lake Kaweah is about 8 miles away. You drive around it after you top the hill entering Three Rivers. My wife Elizabeth and I bought our log home in 2015 and we have been dreaming and adding here ever since! Our dog Chance chases all the fun wildlife off of our property. In addition to deer, we have seen fox, bob cats, an Ocelot, too many coyotes, wild turkeys and bear crossing an animal highway along our upper hillside property line. Hawks, hummingbirds, quail, blue birds, woodpeckers and yellow bellied finches are regularly seen here as well. We have had turkey families coming through frequently recently! Owls have been heard; but not seen. We love our country home and mountain views, and look forward to sharing them with you!

    22 acres of camp sites and another 40 acres nextdoor to a hang gliders and paragliders landing. We have restrooms with showers attached to a geodesic dome on property. BBQ , water at sites. A seasonal 2 acre pond. We are about 25mi from sequoia and Kings Canyon right off the Highway 180 and a close drive from restaurants, stores. Beautiful views. We strive to make sure you have an amazing experience in the outdoors. We are still working on making the campground 100% so sorry in advance but what we are lacking we will make up for it with making your experience memorable hope to meet everyone soon P.S I got 6 things ask you to do while you are here 1.Enjoy your time here 2. If you need anything or have concerns say something ( I will try to accommodate the best I can) 3.Have fun 4. Only TP in toilets please 5. Make memories 6. Be respectful to your neighbors ( Get to know them. I don’t really have quite hours just keep in mind some ppl might be waking up early to hike in the park)

    Nestled just a few miles out of the giant forest, in Sequoia National Park, is Lodgepole Campground. One of the most beautiful campgrounds my group has been to. The campground is large and features numerous sites, some more in the woods, others closer to the Kaweah River. With a market, gift shop, laundry, bathroom, and showers the grounds have great amenities for everyone. Each site comes with ample space, picnic table, fire pit, and bear locker. The most notable feature is the proximity to Sequoia National Park. The campground is minutes away from the Giant Forest, Moro Rock, and miles and miles of hiking trails. Had an incredible time this summer, will definitely be back.

    Lodgepole campground was a great choice for us! Lots of hiking trails to take without having to leave the campground. The view is beautiful no matter which camp site you have.

    Campsites are a bit bigger than I had anticipated. Definitely room for more than one tent, depending on how big your tents are. We brought a 6 people tent and had enough space for another one. Great location, near the trailhead for Tokopah Falls which is a must see!

    There is only one of the loops open for campsites until the end of November. Then you are allowed to sleep in your camper in the parking lot during winter months.

    Went the last week of June 2016. Cluster of sites 80-84 are absolutely great! Right above the stream with lots of shade.

    I was amazed by the beauty of this campground. It is also impressively well kept. Tons of trees, mountain views, and the sound of rushing water was what led me here. I've camped everywhere in California and this is easily a top 3 for me. It is a rather large campground and in the late spring/summer when we were there it was packed with tons of happy campers! The good news is that since it is such a large campground there is a chance you can snag a spot last minute if you get there early enough :) There's also an awesome visitor center down the road from the campground that has a couple places to eat/grocery store AND coin operated showers :)

    It is past the other campgrounds by quite a bit but it is TOTALLY worth it. Plus it is open longer than most campgrounds at that high of elevation.

    Some of the sites are not large (and if you don't have a reservation they'll ask how larger your tent is when you arrive), but this place is definitely worth the stay (and worth the hassle trying to get a spot). The stream that runs through the middle of the campground and the proximity to all of the awesome Sequoia sites make this the perfect campground for the park.

    Camped here in the end of September (end of the season). The campsite and park weren't crowded at all. About 5 hours away from the LA area but a perfect place to get fresh air and escape the lights. I recommend getting a spot close to the creek since its so beautiful to see from your tent. The staff was very kind and the camp was clean, especially the bathrooms. There is a market/gift store down the road. It's like a small grocery store so even if you forget something I'm sure they'll have it. There are so many thing to do in the park so you're never bored. The park is so beautiful and Lodgepole made it perfect. If your going to stay in the park I recommend staying here.
