A wonderful place to stay!! John has done so much with this piece of land and it is so serene. The amenities are just what you need for an easy stay, and if you want to venture out it is easy to get to town or head out to hike. Super grateful for our stay!

This place was a zen dream. Private, quiet, campsite. We were so thrilled to be in nature under the shade of a magnificent grandmother Oak tree. Clean facilities, although I only used them once. The outdoors & sunshower were so good to me. The kitchen & deck had a fairy fantasy feel to it. The parking area under the stars or on the hilltop chapel, I think it was called, had a great view.
Anna & John were excellent hosts. Other campers were friendly and quiet. We swapped camping tips & day trip expeditions. Easy to find, a few miles outside of Kernville it was perfect. Kern River was so refreshing.
45 minutes to an hour to The Trail of 100 Giants & Dome Rock.

A quiet and beautiful place with a very special vibe. I especially appreciated the helpful host, the thoughtful and near-luxurious composting toilet and shower setup and the cool breezy open kitchen area. Thank you for sharing your land John.

Very nice spot!
It was very hot when we arrived but the campsites are well shaded and the communal kitchen and deck were under beautiful oaks that kept things cooler. We there for 4th of July weekend and were told that there is a 3 night minimum stay for holidays, so be aware of that, even though it is not mentioned in the description of this listing. It was nice to make friends in shared spaces, while our area felt nice and private. The stars were beautiful and bright and easy to see from the grounds. Overall, a great place to stay!

John’s property was a lovely quiet place to rest and be surrounded by nature. Amenities were great, clean and organized.
Even if it’s hot you can drive 10-30 minutes up the Kern River and cool off :)

This place is very well equipped for everything you might need in your camping travel. The bathroom and shower is super clean always, kitchen area and common areas make your stay more comfortable. I would recommend to visit the Kern river nearby to cool off in these hot summer days! Thanks John and Anna!

This was our first stay using HipCamp, and it couldn’t have been better! Spirit Walk is close enough to all the action in Kernville but far away enough to see the stars at night, hear the birds chirping, and get a peaceful night’s sleep in the woods. Can’t beat cooking under the tree with tikis and ending the night with a fire. Outdoor kitchen is well stocked. Some sites are on the smaller side so if you have a large tent, I would mention it before booking to make sure there are larger sites available. Don’t come here to party, come to get some R&R in nature. And remember, Trespassers Will be Composted!

Spirit Walk Retreat was a nice area tucked away in the hills near Lake Isabella. The area provided lots of shade and had a wonderful community kitchen area that had a grill/stove, sink, and utensils of needed. Everyone who helped run the camp were friendly and hopefully if you needed anything. We had a great stay over the long weekend at Spirit Walk.

This is a calm, clean, and thoughtful environment. It's very well appointed and there is space to do your own thing or commune with others as you like.
It's a good jumping off point to explore the area. I can't wait to go back at a different time of year and see how the land changes.
Anna and John are gracious hosts and it was a privilege to meet you both and Luna (the sweetest pup). Thank you for everything!
