Mac was welcoming and helpful. We were able to pick our spot. Felt very safe in the location. Not to far from Joshua Tree NP. Firepit available, clean bathrooms. We would definitely stay here again.
Camping without roughing it!
We arrived well after dark but host Mac was attentive and helped get us a great tent location on his property. The site was flat and easy to set up our tent and gear. Perfect spot fir stargazing! Fortunately we brought our own camp stove for cooking as the communal fire pit and grill were quite a ways from our camp site. The port-potties were clean and well supplied. There’s even a small rustic sink for hand washing (bring your own soap and towel). Those conveniences made it a winner in my book! Overall great vibe. Would definitely recommend. Thanks Mac and Mark!
Mac was lovely and extremely accommodating. We loved the quaint, rustic touches he created around his property. We stayed in a tent and the sand was perfectly soft to sleep under (though we also brought a mattress pad). The stars were absolutely beautiful!
Mac & marks little piece of heaven
One of the first thing you notice when arriving to Sky Fire, is the pride of ownership the host has for his little desert paradise. While there were nice common areas, including rest areas and shower, we chose a more remote site where we were afforded a bit more privacy. There was pretty easy access to open areas to explore as well. The place really came alive at night when the on site lighting and of course, all those stars came out. Cery cool spot. I will be back. thanks Mac and Mark!!
Beautiful and great location!
Amazing hosts and site! It was our first time camping and Mac kindly welcomed us and helped us set up our tent. He gave great suggestions about places to check out and even loaned us blankets to stay warm at night. He checked in with us about dinner and set up a fire as well. From beginning to end, we felt comfortable. The space is absolutely beautiful - perfect views of the sunrise and stars at night. Really convenient to the park and helpful amenities. Definitely recommend!
I had read a review mentioning the American flags and was a little hesitant, but there are only a few marking the corners of the rather large property, so it was a dumb mention in the review I'd read. Mac met us and pointed out some great potential spots for us to set up our tent and came back out later to give us quick tips on having a safe fire with the wipping wind. The grill, the (awesome) outdoor shower and the VERY clean porta-johns were clutch, especially the shower after a warm day of climbing in the national park. We'll absolutely be back.
I only passed through Joshua Tree for a night, but I hope to come back to this spot! Sunrise and sunset were surreal. The stargazing was also superb. Mac was super available by phone to make sure I knew where to park and set up. This kind of availability to guests is part of what I love about using Hipcamp instead of public campgrounds or even AirBnb, nowadays. If you’re tent camping, be ready to get sandy!
