Built using specialized parts and tools from world treehouse headquarters in nearby Cave Junction, Oregon, this two-story beauty is accessed via a redwood spiral staircase leading to the first deck. Constructed from salvaged, old-growth redwood from the local mill, it blends in perfectly with the surrounding forest. There you'll find a redwood slab table under a chandelier.
A steel spiral staircase takes you to the upper deck, 22’ above the forest floor. Nestled among the branches, this large space features two cantilevered wings supported by cables. The first has a 12’ bar table atop decoratively etched tempered glass panels from which to overlook the grove, The other wing features an 8’ geodesic dome for reclining and relaxing. The dome has a storage compartment, two full-length pads and two opening windows. You’ll find a swing for your inner child, a dumbwaiter for easy vertical transfer of belongings and a composting toilet under the lower deck.
You will enter the property and park at Tower of Jewels farm. The greenhouses, garden beds, bees, chickens and orchards provide food for us and others in our permaculture group. The farmstead is the base for work-trade and educational opportunities centered on organic, biodynamic farming and permaculture. Please request a farm tour if these ideas and lifestyle interest you.
Because we have a rooster and so do our neighbors, you may hear crowing in the early hours. Inside the dome you will find disposable earplugs if this proves to be a problem for you.
We are located on two acres approximately six miles north of Crescent City, California, halfway between Portland, Oregon and San Francisco, California—a comfortable day's drive (350 miles) from each city. We are three miles from the old growth redwoods at Jedidiah Smith State Park, part of the Redwoods National Park jointly managed by the state and federal governments. The tallest coastal redwoods in the world are within 10 miles of us.
Two miles separate us from the ocean as the crow flies, about four miles by road. The nearest beach is Tolowa Dunes State Park where you are likely to see elk herds and porcupines. The beach is lightly used and on a weekday morning you can walk for miles north or south without seeing another person, though you are likely to see seals staring at you from the surf.
The town of Crescent City is six miles south. Here there is dining and entertainment, shopping, a museum, a beautiful crescent-shaped beach with surfing and tide pooling opportunities, the National Park Visitor center, a park with the nation's only beachfront disc golf course and more. The largest coastal lagoon south of Alaska is very close by with a hiking trail that starts less than a mile from the property.
A few miles north is the Smith River, the last un-dammed river in California. It's clear, turquoise waters can take your breath away at first sight. Upstream there is the Siskiyou wilderness and Six Rivers National Forest—no mining, agriculture or human development are allowed to disturb the landscape or water. The unique water color comes from the rare serpentine soil. The area also supports the rare, carnivorous pitcher plant (Darlingtonia Californica.)

We so enjoyed our private treehouse and tiny house stay at the majestic redwoods retreat. Our hosts have created magic here to have guests enjoy & be in in awe of the beautiful work! We truly appreciated the dedication, extreme effort, expense, & artistry in creating such a tranquil setting. The hosts were a delight and took time to tour us around & answer questions about gardening techniques etc.
It was absolutely beautiful, like being at Oregon Country Fair but in the redwoods. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Loved sleeping in the treehouse amongst the redwoods! I also enjoyed the various van Gogh paintings on the walk through their property to get to the grove of trees.
This was a magical experience, the treehouse was perfect and amazing for me and my 2 boys. Hope and David were incredibly welcoming and so we’re all the animals.
This was kind of a dream come true. Always wanted to stay in a treehouse (a first) and always wanted to stay in the trees in the redwoods. The site was very basic, but completely accurate to the listing, and clean. After a long day of hiking and exploring Jedediah Smith redwoods state park, hauling everything from the car to the site, and then up the stairs was a bit exhausting, but we made it through, and cooked a decent dinner over a portable propane stove and sipped some wine while the sun went down.
Another thing, the cat! I can't remember his name, but the cat was super curious, friendly, and was a joy to have hanging out. He even came into the sleeping area at night to cuddle up and helped keep us warm, then came back the next morning to have breakfast with us. I mention this, because this seemed pretty routine for him, and others might not like it, so make sure you're aware, and/or let the owner know.
We only stayed one night, but would not have minded staying a few more. I wish I'd have gotten to talk with the owners some more about their farming, etc, but didn't get an opportunity because we weren't there long. Seems like they'd have a lot to share, and teach. They also came off as very approachable, and respectful good people. Would highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for a unique, semi-rugged treehouse stay.
This was one of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed, so we’ll kept and very safe feeling. The environment is beautiful. Could not have asked for anything more.
Very unique experience with a few things that could be improved. LOVE the treehouse and wooded setting but the actual sleeping area in the dome is subpar. The two inflatable pads provided did not hold air. They had soft foam inside them so it wasn't quite like sleeping directly on plywood... but only a step above.
The friendly cat came to sleep with us the first night, so you can decide whether that's your thing or not. I barricaded the entrance with our luggage the second night and that kept the cat away (the entrance to the dome is a magnetic screen curtain). Also, the dome smells pretty strongly of cat. I honestly think the owner needs to throw those pads away, sterilize the hard surfaces, and install a gate or door. That would make this a lovely place to sleep!
The other issue was the neighborhood dog noise. I can deal with roosters but there was a LOT of dog barking. The resident dog contributes a good amount as well. It definitely takes away from the peaceful setting. I think it seemed the worst around 8-10 in the morning. I guess the roosters quiet down and then the dogs get their turn 😀.
It was awesome. Very nice and picturesque. The farm cat is very friendly, we fell in love. 10/10 would recommend.
