Hillary was an amazing host! Incredibly responsive, warm and polite. She was available when needed and also respected the camping experience. The grounds are wonderful with lots of amenities while maintaining the quiet, serene experience of camping. I would highly recommend The Hidden Grove and staying with Hillary! We can't wait to go back!

Actually, I did not stay there because I got completely confused by the web interface, ending up in an entirely different place about 40 miles away. Hillary was wonderful about the error and did not charge me. That’s why I would recommend her to anyone - she is kind and honest.

Overall I had a relaxing experience and Hilleary the host was lovely and welcoming. The walk-in camp site was among the trees and had a cute branch lined patch. The kitchen area and communal fire pit are nice areas for hanging out and the cats that live there are all very friendly. The campsite I picked was not very private as it is fairly close to the hosts backyard area and the next campsite. It also borders the neighbors property who was close enough to chat with for a few hours while he cut up some wood. The only real concern I had was two large stray dogs who tried to come into my campsite twice. That was challenging with my dog and kept me on the lookout.

What an awesome setup they have!

Just a warning if you are winter camping like we were, then there are NO hot showers (water was shut off for the season due to freezing pipes). Not a deal breaker, but if that’s a deciding factor for you then that may be important to consider.

We loved it. We found Lucky Penny by chance and I am so glad we did. There were so many fun and charming details. The beautiful wild garden, the vintage dish-ware in the outdoor common kitchen, a stage/star gazing platform with a big collection of board games and puzzles for guests. The camp sites are nice, each one has its own special location within a good comfortable distance from each other without feeling sparse. Upon arriving we met with the host who was friendly and welcoming. And we found a bowl of fruit they had grown on the grounds at our site they had provided for us with a beautiful bouquet of flowers from the garden on the picnic table. In the evenings we enjoyed running into the hosts and even got to play a little music all together. It felt like hanging out with a fun neighbor. It’s close to the little town and about forty minutes from the beach. But the only thing we wish we’d done different was stay longer to enjoy the grounds more. It would very easy to enjoy some lazy days there basking in the forest sun.

Hillary is such a nice, friendly, thoughtful host! We loved the little touches of this Hipcamp, and cooking in the huge outdoor kitchen was SO fun. There was much fresh fruit to be eaten, and Hillary pointed us toward Hole in the Wall, which was a really beautiful swimming spot about 20 minutes away. It was nice to pack lighter with camping as we didn't need to bring any cooking stuff, and super helpful to have a fridge (note: no freezer). We did a day trip to Black Sands Beach in Westport, which was also fantastic, so this location ended up as a good base for us. Our kids loved it -- games, toys, old Ranger Rick magazines (!). Generally pretty quiet for sleeping; there's some background road noise, but the crickets get loud, too. :)
