Nice campsite, easy river access
My partner, dog and I had such a relaxing stay! We've camped at a vineyard before, but this was super private and had great shade from the huge eucalyptus trees. The rocking Adirondack chairs at the campsite were a huge improvement over camp chairs, and there was plenty of level ground for pitching our tent. Great cell service was a bonus, as I was on call for work. The Mokelumne River Day Use Area is so close and we ended up going both days during our stay to wade - so easy to get to, dog friendly, very few other people there, and free! Would love to come back here.
Getting to camp here was a very cool and different experience. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, walking through the vineyard and meeting the neighboring horses was a plus. The bathrooms were clean, stocked and there was also a sink. The picnic table had plenty of room for our supplies and although there was a fire ban in effect, the provided fire ring would’ve been really cool to use. Hopefully next time! Unfortunately, the smoke from the recent wildfires obstructed our view of the stars so we’ll probably give it a shot on another occasion. The breeze was a life saver because it’s been very hot lately but the two or three large trees provide adequate shade. All in all, a really chill spot.
Such a cool experience camping amongst the vines! They surround the campsite on three sides, so you’ll really feel like you’re in the vineyards. Just bring your favorite bottle of wine, charcuterie board ingredients, and you’ll be set up for a one-of-a-kind experience! The eucalyptus tree provides some nice shade too. I’d say bring your own lounge chairs if you wanna get real cozy.
There’s plenty of flat ground to pick the best place to set up camp. There’s also a porta-potty around the corner for you to use.
Site itself was really nice! Secluded in the vines, and neighbors horses are very friendly. When we were there, there was no potable water available (although marked on the listing as available), and as we were counting on this for drinking and cooking, it was a bit of a bummer.
Lodi wine destination
Liberty Vines is a wonderful location for camping. We wanted an opportunity to disconnect from technology to enjoy a serene outdoor experience. Paul was very accommodating and responded to all our questions. We will certainly make this one of our "go-to" spots when we need another overnight adventure in Lodi Wine Country.
This was my first solo camping trip and Paul was so very helpful. I had purchased a large 10x10 canopy-style. “Tent” (more for shade than to sleep in). Prior to the trip, I didn’t have time to practice setting it up. So I just threw it in the car and hoped for the best. I arrived near dusk. I messaged that I might need assistance with my canopy, and Pail came by not long after and helped me figure out how to set it up. (I subsequently have learned how to set it up and take it down by myself., although having a second person makes it a bit easier). Paul mentioned my weights might not be heavy enough and said I was welcome to borrow bigger weights if I needed them. Well, sure enough, on the following morning while I was out driving around, when I came back my tent had blown over due to 17 mph winds! I messaged Paul again, and while I was at the next town over (Galt) getting supplies, he fixed my tent and installed weights to ensure the tent would stay in place! Thank you,, Paul!
We enjoyed walking through the rows of Merlot grapes and meeting the horses living next door. Also, there were 2 port a potties which were honestly the cleanest and most well stocked port a potties I have ever used in my life! I filled up my 6 gallon water jug at the house. I would highly recommend this campsite!
Views, clean, safe and a good host!
This location really is a hidden gem and the host Paul was very responsive to all our questions. There are homes in a distance but you have complete privacy because of how the site is nestled between the 2 eucalyptus trees and not to mention his beautiful vineyard.
The site is very clean and even has a picnic table, fire pit and 2 wine barrel chairs. We felt safe and secure at this site as well. You also get ZERO traffic vehicles nor people going through your site which is a major plus for us. There is Also a Porta Potty toilet supplied for you and IT IS CLEAN!
If you just want to get way for a bit or just make it a quick 1 nighter on the way to the lakes and casino or even just as a date nite this property is it folks.
The “Wanderers” will stay here again!
Lovely, private, peaceful!
Lovely single camping spot between a vineyard and a field under giant eucalyptus trees. Our host Paul was responsive via text and otherwise hands off (a wave hello and a wave goodbye from a distance) so we had plenty of privacy during our stay.
The site includes two rocking chairs, a fire pit, a mini picnic table, and two very clean portapotties and portable sink. Our vanagon fit easily between the trees and the pop top would have had enough clearance too (we ended up not opening it since it was in the 50s at night). We also set up a single person tent for the other member of our party closer to the fire pit. Probably could have fit another tent in addition to that also.
We gathered some fallen branches to make the fire but otherwise would have gone to the market down the road to buy a larger bundle. We didn’t see any potable water at the listing but had brought our own so made no difference to us, but something to consider next time.
It was warm and breezy during the day and cool at night. The stargazing was incredible. The neighbor’s horse was very friendly and came by the fence to say hello.
The only thing that would have made our lovely stay even lovelier would have been if the chairs and table were hosed off before we got there—the downside to all those lovely trees is a lot of bird poop that we spent our first hour wiping down.
We would love to come back as it was a relaxing and scenic spot close to many wineries and close to downtown Lodi. Waking up at sunrise to birdsong was really lovely.
