Joshua Rancho is near the California Poppy reserve. It sits amongst beautiful Joshua Trees with spring desert flowers on the property. This is 2.5 acres of Joshua Tree land in the Antelope Valley north of LA, between the Tehachapi Mountains and the San Gabriel Mountains. You will be driving on dirt roads to get to the property. Trucks, SUV’s and mini vans are fine but please understand that the last mile to the camp site is on an unmaintained dirt road that has high and low spots. The land sits near solar farms and there is some light that does come from them. You will have this beautiful spot to yourself. During the winter, the days are pleasant and cool. It does get breezy at night, so dress appropriately. In the summer time it gets nice and hot but does cool down in the evening. The beauty of being out camping here is that there are no rules, nobody watching. Think long dirt roads, tumbleweeds, bones, and maybe some old bullet shells (there's no shooting allowed on the property). This is not a state-maintained, paved, manicured operation you are out here by yourself. You need to bring your own food and water there is nothing out here. Please respect the property and clean up after yourself! This is for people who are comfortable exploring beyond a concrete slab with electricity and janitor-cleaned restrooms. There is a designated camp site with a deck that you can put your tent on or use it as a picnic eating area. The ground around the site does have lots of places to set up camp. Your pets are welcome out here and are free to be off leach. Please remember that there are wild animals that would like to eat your pet. We do provide a place to use the bathroom but you will need to bring your own bags and composting materials. This property is pack in pack out! The property itself is along a dirt road. It's about a 8 mile drive from Neenach Market, where there's a general store and a cafe. They make a great breakfast burrito. It's also a few minutes from the State Poppy Reserve, which blooms in the spring with miles of California poppies. If you have a larger group or event in mind, get in touch! We can figure out how to accommodate you.

Good place, just be carefull with the rattlesnake ( cascabel ) open your eyes!!!

Super cute place with everything that we needed. James was super sweet and answered all my questions quickly and thoroughly. We did get lost otw to the campsite but we found it eventually. It was nice that there was a gas stove for us to use when it got windy. Lots of space for the doggies to run around. Highly recommend :)
Really interesting spot not too far from PCT. Very important to follow James's directions all the way to the end. The site itself is magical. We were there during high winds and ended up not being able to use the tent platform but still enjoyed sunset and morning sun.
Very quiet and nice place in the middle of nowhere! Lovely details all over the area. Unfortunately the night was very windy and cold.
I loved the beautiful simplicity of camping at Joshua Tree Rancho, and my two dogs lived not having to be tethered. The ground was carpeted with wildflowers and I came during the famous poppy blooms nearby, so the experience fed my soul! There is a nice picnic table, cook bench, and chair there now, as well as a privacy shelter if needed. My only issue was that Hipcamp listed this property as near Joshua Tree National Park, which it certainly is NOT!

This was an excellent camping spot - we will definitely be returning. My girlfriend and I went with our dogs. It was super spacious with plenty of room to set up camp and have our dogs roam around and for us to bike. It was peaceful, quiet, and safe - a great place to relax in solitude. We were able to get there with our front wheel drive compact sedan with no problems - be sure to follow the directions he sends you. Truly exceptional camping. Thanks James.
James’ land is perfect. It’s a quick drive from LA, completely secluded, and adjusts Joshua trees and wildflowers. Perfect for a solo trip or small group with lots of desert around to explore. Found a few bones. Great for an off leash dog. Thanks James!!

Loved car camping on James's land! The Joshua Tree Rancho is a great location for a secluded getaway near LA. It's amazing to drive through a private grove of Joshua Tree's to your campsite.
The campsite had a great set up. The stove and sink are a great addition, and makes it significantly easier to prep and clean after meals. The large Joshua Trees provide shade through the afternoon/evening, but it might feel a little exposed in the middle of the day. The site is very well thought out with the picnic table, bench, a fire ring, and "outhouse"
It is a primitive site! Pack everything out. The "outhouse" provides the seclusion needed to set up a toilet, but it is not an actual bathroom. Make sure you have wag bags or a compost toilet and pack it out too. Don't leave any trash for the next guests to find.
There is a firepit, but be considerate of the winds. It was a little windy at night when I visited and did not feel comfortable setting up a campfire.
Recommended activities: go visit the Poppy Fields! They aren't too far, and there are also plenty of wildflowers to enjoy on your drive in.
The platform is great for yoga and stargazing. Walk through the Joshua Trees and observe the funky shapes.

Loved it, the stars at night were unreal. Thank you!
