Camp out under the stars amongst the juniper bushes and enjoy your 360 degree view! Rolling hills of California juniper, agave, and Joshua trees surround you, with mountain views to the south, and a view of the beautiful Antelope Valley to the north. The sunsets are absolutely breathtaking and the sunrise is nearly just as splendid. Your campsite includes a picnic table, space for two tents, and a sitting area with optional use of the propane fire pit (additional fee.) There is a composting toilet on site that feels like a luxurious cabin bathroom, and thanks to simple science, it smells divine! Clear paths lead you from the parking area to your site, and all around the property so that you can enjoy the entire space. There are many cute shops, dining options, watering holes, and natural spaces that you can visit in the area, all just 15-20 minutes away, most of which you can visit on your way to or from our high desert hideout.

Our propane fire pits are a lovely and safe alternative to a wood burning fire. The firepit and a full 20lb propane tank are provided.. We highly recommend adding this on to your booking, as wood burning campfires cannot be permitted due to the wildfire risk :) Add this if using the tent heater at the Hideout Bell tent. Propane tank will operate both he firepit and heater.

Besides the people partying very loudly at the tent site next to us during the nights we were trying to relax this site was very beautiful and we had a good time exploring with my dog during the daytime hours! Would 10/10 camp here again!
We loved camping on Jane's site. The tent site is fairly close to one of the permanent tents (yurt?) but just far enough to feel isolated. This is a good place to get away from the city for a while. There are two spots for your tents, one closer to the picnic table and another a bit downslope.
Jane has everything set up very nicely. We arrived after dark so really appreciated the clear instructions because one missed turn and you will be on a rough road. At the site there are clear paths and solar nightlights to show where to put the tents. Jane's care and attention to detail really shows in the daylight. This is such a well planned and maintained campsite and also minimally disturbed from its natural state.
The scenery is beautiful both in daylight and at night. When we arrived there the moon was half full so the first part of the night was moonlit and everything was painted in silvery beautiful light. When the moon set the number of visible stars was in the thousands! In the morning there was snow on the nearby mountains and the most calming silence. It warmed up quickly once the sun rose over the mountains, but the gas firepit (recommended in winter) made the wait tolerable.
Since we arrived late we missed our chance to meet Jane in person, but she exchanged several texts with us making sure we found the site and such. We are sorry we missed her.
