THE SPACELaguna Mountain is one of the highest peaks in San Diego at an elevation of over 6,000ft. It's part of the Cleveland National Forest network and one of the most bio-diverse habitats in all of Southern California. It features some of the tallest pine, conifer and oak trees in the region, as well as beautiful open space preserves as far as the eye can see.
The area is extremely remote and secluded. Our glamping sites are located in the communal campgrounds of Laguna./El Prado & Burnt Rancheria campgrounds, right off Sunrise Highway. The closest town is Julian about 30 minutes away. It's about a 15 minute drive to Lake Cuyamaca. The drive along S1 Sunrise HWY is an experience in itself, with contrasting landscapes between our mountain forests and the Anza-Borrego desert.
Your site comes with a combination of both tree tents, bell tents and hammocks. Bell tents are fully outfitted and spacious with therapeutic mattress and / or sofa bed (s). They are staged with the ultimate comfort and luxury in mind, featuring rugs, plush floor pillows, solar powered lights and propane heater.

My first glamping experience!
I actually stayed at the Blue Jay camp after being upgraded by Shantel! I was staying alone so couldn’t justify the larger camp space, but when she offered it, I couldn’t refuse!
I loved everything about this glamping experience. At this time of year (Oct) it’s cold in the mountains at night, but fires aren’t allowed either. Honestly, I didn’t miss or need a fire. I was able to get away at a moments notice, because everything is ready at the campsite for you. The buddy heater plus all the bedding there, and my little camping heating pads were all I needed to stay warm and cosy.
Shantel was professional and courteous. She made sure I had everything I needed and the whole space was charming. Every detail has been considered, all the way down to the caddy for the shower filled with shampoos and lotions.
The kitchen tent is amazing. I loved the griddle, that made cooking and clean up so easy. It’s just so organized and that’s often what makes camping a nightmare for me… not knowing where anything is, searching through everything constantly! This experience makes it so you don’t need to do any of that.
Highly recommended… I could go on and on really, the tree hammocks are amazing, the hikes beautiful and serene, bird life is amazing! Acorn Woodpeckers at the Blue Jay site were busy working all day, which I loved.
Thanks so much for a great experience!
Beautiful, fun, and easy!
Wonderful site with everything you could possibly need! Beautiful, peaceful area. Shantel was so helpful, checking that we had what we needed and restocking if needed. She was quick to reply to questions. We would definitely return.
Wow! Really nice set up and spot, very fun for my 11 yo (but I wouldn't recommend for under 7 or 8). Shantel was very thorough and responsive. Ck out the "nature hike" trail at the campground which connects to a pretty section of Pacific Crest Trail. August was not too hot- hike in the morning/evening and enforced quiet time in the afternoon floating with the leaves up in the shaded tent
Best camping in the woods
It was the best camping experience I’ve had with my son. Defenitely a trip we will always remember.
We had everything we needed. And Shantal was very helpful with everything we need.
We enjoyed every bit of our stay and glamping up in the trees.
Can not wait to be back!
Glamping in san diego mountains
My friend and I had a fabulous time glamping. The tree tents were very comfortable. Shantel provides sleeping bags, sleep sack liners and pillows - we slept really well!
The camp kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to cook great meals, including seasonings.
Our site had an additional traditional tent - we used it for yoga everyday.
Shantel even provided shampoo, conditioner etc. All we needed was our cooler and food.
We were at Burnt Rancheria campground in the Cleveland National Forest. The surrounding mountains are beautiful.
I can’t say enough good things about our experience!
A great vacation getaway!
Our host Shantel took care of everything. It was one of the best camping trips I’ve been on. I would definitely come back and recommend this trip to anyone of my friends. The only thing I would like to warn future guests is that the flys are kind of annoying. The host provided these great fly traps which worked great for the first day but the second and third day we probably needed some more traps so bring some extra.
Shantel was a wonderful host! She offered clear and timely communication and met us at the site to offer direction on the gear. They provided everything we needed for a great experience.
Fun weekend getaway
My wife and I really enjoyed our Valentine's Day weekend camping here! Shantel was a responsive and responsible host. There were a couple mishaps - we thought we would be in Mt. Laguna, but because that site was undergoing maintenance we were in the Boulder Oaks Campground, and when we got there, the bathroom closest to our site was not working - but other than that, we enjoyed our stay! The site is private and large - pretty trees with nice open spaces. One downside is that it is close enough to the road that you could hear cars when they came by - which at night wasn't often and wasn't distracting. We were looking for an outdoors experience where we wouldn't have to bring much since it was a last minute getaway, and the "glamping" part of having a camping kitchen set up already was great. The coffee, tea and hot choc was awesome to have already there. The tents took a bit getting used to, but they were a fun adventure - our kids would really like it & we are thinking of bringing them. It was COLD but the sleeping bags provided were great & kept us warm. We went to the Wolf Recovery Center & spent time in Julian, and that was so much fun! We loved the little town. Overall, great weekend adventure.
