Glamping Safari Tent #2 - Comanche (NO PETS ALLOWED #2)
This Glamping Tent features all the comforts of home along a private stretch of the creek. The tents are 10 x 16 and each features a queen size comfortable bed, kitchen table and wood burning stove to keep you warm and toasty. This tent also has a bunk bed for the kids. We provide towels and amenities. This is located next to Glamping #1 and is close to the restrooms/lodge. Outside there a propane firepit. Must purchase propane on site to use the outdoor firepit. The tent also has electricity to charge your electronic devices. WE DO NOT ALLOW PETS IN THE GLAMPING TENTS! Only guests with reservations are allowed in this area.
Reservation considerations. We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July land Labor Day. Beginning in the 2020 season we do not do checkins on Sunday. However, if you are on site and want to extend over Sunday night all you have to do is let us know in advance or during your stay. Due to COVID many of our weddings were postponed into 2021 so many weekends during May, June, September and October are not available for camping. So if one weekend is booked looked to another weekend or you might consider a mid-week - Monday - Thursday visit.
This is a family private owned small campground (16 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, platforms with canvas tents , teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We are all about tent camping – we do not allow travel trailers, campers or van camping (we will allow a small travel trailer in #14).
We have a “family camp” vibe. We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day. Tahoe is less than an hour away. We are dog friendly at many of our sites and love our pets but absolutely enforce leash laws to protect your pet as well as the other campers. Due to the nature of our mixed audience camp we also enforce our quiet period from10 pm to 7 AM.
We have a lodge that is stocked with game tables and every game imaginable along with a ping pong table. The lodge has a Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups). We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. The showers are nice and cleaned daily.
For outdoor activities we have basketball, volley ball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing sets, seesaw and tractor play.We also have many outdoor games for meadow play including a tug-a-war rope, gunny sacks, baseballs, gloves and a soccer net.We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings) .The common area has BBQs – both propane and charcoal as well as a cooking griddle (we also adding a campfire pit in the campfire bowl area for charcoal dutch oven cooking). We are in the wilderness so we have a room to store all food at night – yes bears live in the wilderness.
The Creek starts out in the spring looking like a rushing river featuring lots of swimming holes and fishing. However, as the summer evolves it is more of a small creek even though we do dam a portion of it (goes up around memorial day weekend and down after labor day) for those that want to use the floating devices we provide (starts out 6 feet and ends up closer to 3 feet). We do not allow individual campfires but have propane fire pits for ambience – not cooking. They require the purchase of our on site propane rental.
We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historic towns with great eating establishments. There’s always something happened in downtown Placerville. To make things nicer for our guests we have the ability to rent a limited number of tents, cots, sleeping pads, etc. Come give our location a try – we think you’ll enjoy yourselves.
Checkin is between 4 and 8. If you are coming from the Bay allow 4 hours - you must leave by 3:00 or 4:00 at the latest to arrive during checkin. If you get delayed, for the consideration of the other campers you may consider waiting and arriving Saturday morning. Going forward there will be no checkins after 9:00.

Very family oriented glamping
Great family camping area with kids of all ages! Lots of conveniences available - microwave, coffee machine, s’mores event, hiking, sitting by the stream. Owner is very caring and hospitable. Kids had a blast! Would definitely recommend it to all my friends.
Cared for, clean and may amenities
Private hidden gem, yet close enough to other points of interest if you want to spend some of your day exploring the surrounding area. Very clean with many amenities, including an electric air pump for your water toys to lounge in the creek.
We had the best time playing in the creek, listening to the water running, playing on the playground, running in the meadow, and hanging out by the fire. Greg the host is super kind, friendly, and really thoughtful. We had everything we needed and really appreciate how each site has privacy, yet close to everything you could need. Definitely a great family experience, fun for all ages, and great location. We can’t wait to come back!
Kick back and relax by the creek :)
Beautiful glamping tent setup right by the creek with excellent privacy. Camp Nauvoo had clean and conveniently located facilities which allowed us to maximize our glamping experience ;)
It was beautiful waking up in the morning to the sound of the creek and see the sun coming through and evaporating the humidity lingering around and creating like a foggy screen. The Camp also had a nice hiking trail that the hosts created themselves which was super fun (no spoilers) :)
Thanks Greg for creating a camp fire for us so we could have some smores to finish off our camping experience!
Camp Nauvoo was amazing! We loved the creek setting, comfortable accommodations, friendly host, and beautiful grounds. We did it all -playing in the creek, the hike, fishing, blackberry picking, etc. It was a perfect family place. I'd recommend lots of extra layers since it felt much colder at night than the weather prediction. But during the day, even at 90+ degrees - the creek cooled the campsite & it was very pleasant. Also, the lodge/game room is closed due to covid.
Loved our stay
I loved it because the set up is so very thoughtful with the rocking chair, towels, lamp, wood stove in the tent.
there was a pair of shoes left from a previous tenant by the way.
Greg and Laurie were great!
Really lovely stay--the folks at Camp Nauvoo seem really on top of maintenance, were friendly and super helpful. The tent itself is super cozy and cute, and falling asleep to the sound of the creek was a delight. Just one note of caution separate from the camp--my partner and I got directions to a watering hole near the camp at the edge of their property that we could swim in, which was very lovely and secluded, but there were also some big ol' crawfish at the bottom, so watch out for those! I would definitely recommend this stay!
