I liked the spot, a nice little place to get out to for a night. It was very sandy but it is possible with 2wd for sure if you play your cards right and know how to navigate sandy areas with patience. It’s a bit close to the main road but if you look the other way there are beautiful rocks you can hike up to that resemble jumbo rocks from Joshua tree national park so that was awesome.
This site was great! Picnic table, fire ring, and lights. It was very quiet and we slept well. Lots and lots of space.
Scary at first but nice little get away. Only downside was you can hear the cars all night. But I am also a very light sleeper.
Had a great stay here. The directions were good, and the sandy road in was not too difficult for our car (4WD). Enjoyed the soft sand ground and interesting plant life. Had some strong winds but not so strong that we couldn’t build and sit around a campfire at night.
This place was incredible- an hour and a half from LA, gorgeous isolated spot on a hill overlooking the valley, rocks to climb and Joshua Trees to adore. As with most of the best places to camp, highly recommend arriving during daylight. It did get very windy, but that was just timing, and you do have to haul your stuff 50 yards from parking to camp, but it’s all worth it. Spectacular!

Beautiful and peaceful spot. My AWD vehicle was temporarily stuck in the sand so be very careful driving to and from the area from the main road.
Although the initial path up seems well padding from other tire tracks, it’s not packed in enough and my car almost got stuck a few times. Then the turn into the campsite had such a large and deep divot I knew my car couldn’t pass so I pulled to the side - when I tried to reverse my car rolled forward first and got stuck. Had to get a tow truck out and it cost me $250. Tow truck operator said no way that side road is safe for any cars without 4 wheel drive and that I wouldn’t have made it back had I made it past this part of the road anyways. I didn’t spend the night.
Emily’s directions were precise and easy to follow. I was led to a quaint and convenient little spot, very cute and clean. It was the perfect place to stay...even in a pinch! It’s was just all so easy!
