Albert Canyon was a small community lodging rail workers and their families. It had a school and a store and a train stop. When the Trans Canada Hwy was built, people moved from the Canyon to Revelstoke and the Canyon became a "ghost town." You can still see some old outbuildings and garbage from the old days! There is currently a campground and Hot springs resort operated next to us from May-Sept.

The shack has been rented out for winter season. Available again in April.
Wonderful vehicle accessible cabin tucked in the mountains!
Skiing/hiking/mountaineering accommodation 25 minutes East of Revelstoke and 25 minutes West of Rogers Pass. We are also a 1-minute walk to Selkirk Tangiers heli day lodge. Revelstoke is a mecca for climbing, mountain biking, hiking and skiing. World-class back-country skiing and hiking await in Rogers Pass. There is also a nearby put-in for whitewater enthusiasts.
Our "Shack" originated as a travel trailer with a small addition. As the years have passed the additions have evolved to the current cabin. We have enjoyed many years skiing, mountaineering, hiking, and climbing with the Shack as our basecamp.
Tucked under massive spruce trees with mountain views from the kitchen or picnic table, our little cabin offers private and clean lodging for those who prefer things simple. There is running hot and cold water, indoor shower, full kitchen, electricity, good cellular coverage, and an outhouse. There is NO indoor toilet :) The bedroom has a double bunk that can technically sleep 4 adults. In the living room there is a twin-size day bed that can sleep another adult. The kitchen has a full-size refrigerator and apartment size stove with oven, coffee maker, kettle, toaster and all utensils and pots and pans. There is a full-size woodstove that heats the space very well, and baseboard heaters to keep the chill off in the winter when the fire burns out.
Outside you will find 2 picnic tables, a swing, and a hammock under the trees in the shade. You can hear Albert Creek not far off, and the many tree-dwellers surrounding the Shack.
We often have bears and pine martens living near the cabin. Because of the wildlife, there is to be no food, coolers or garbage left outside. Please do not feed the wildlife as bears have had to be removed from our area because of this.
Please note there is a train track through Albert Canyon which is noticeable but not loud when sleeping inside.
This is not a 5 Star resort - we are offering a simple "glamping" experience. We supply a bottom sheet and pillows with pillowcases for the beds, toilet paper, one 20L potable water bottle, and hand towels for the bathroom sink. You will need to bring your own sleeping bags, towels, toiletries, and food. You must also remove all of your garbage and foodstuffs from the fridge and cupboards - do not leave this for us to clean or we will charge a cleaning fee of $50.
We welcome pets but our neighbors will not. All pets must be leashed or managed carefully outside and their poop scooped up. Dogs running into the neighbors horse pen, or left barking alone during your stay, will cause you a poor review and eviction. We respect our neighbors and value our relationship with them. We hope you do too as our guests.
We are also open to long-term renting, and renting to larger parties who may want to stay in the cabin and also tent or trailer outside. There is space for campers, tents, and small trailers. We will not rent to 2 separate parties at the same time.
