Less than a minute from the Kings River Falls Trail-head, and nestled alongside the headwaters of the Kings River in Venus Arkansas. This is a remote and rugged campground with caves, bluffs, swimming holes and river a plenty. This campground has a grand exhibition of the same sandstone formation that is responsible for the Whitaker Point (Hawksbill Crag) formation.  Clovis like points have been found here, and so one might assume the bluffs and crags here have been inhabited for millennia.

We have picnic tables and fire rings at each site. If you have a large group, please contact us before booking to ensure that we are able to accommodate your group. This 7 acre property is completely surrounded by Arkansas Natural Heritage-Natural Area. There are miles of trails and cooling waters at every turn.

If you like Kings River Falls, get ready to fall in love with this Red Fern Campground.

Lose yourself in a fairy-tale land. With endless places to explore and amazing natural features at every turn this experience will not disappoint.

Most of our campsites are just yards away from a public swimming area, which is shared between our property and the Arkansas Natural Area. You should expect local traffic at the main swimming area during your stay.  We have a private swimming area on our property which is just a short hike from the developed campsites (Please ask the camphost for directions).

Please be aware that cell phone service is spotty to virtually non-existent. Also it's a good idea to bring waterproof hiking shoes or water shoes since our camping spots may require walking across a low water creek. This campground also requires travel down miles of county maintained dirt roads. Expect your car to get dusty. We are unable to accommodate travel trailers and RVs at this time. Parking at your campsite requires a drive across a low water creek, otherwise you will need to park and walk across. Lastly, bring tick defense for yourself and your pets.

This place is great. It’s very primitive, as advertised, and remote. But it has a ton of natural beauty all around. Sam and Michelle were great hosts. They live a long way from the property but came in at our ETA to help us get settled and show us around.

Very beautiful property. We booked campsite 4, but got switched to 5 since they added a new site after we booked. This was our anniversary trip and we wanted privacy and seclusion. We were pretty disappointed that the site next to us was so close, like 15-20ft thru some undergrowth. We heard every word our neighbors said, and they were nice people, just way closer than expected. Had an issue getting firewood to our camp that was pre ordered. Had to go buy our own in town, then the next day Sam brought us a ton of wood which was greatly appreciated. Beautiful camp site, beautiful property. Not very spaced out sites, sites 1 & 2 were off on their own more, but also cloest to the public area. Sites 3, 4 and 5 are really close to each other. Very rough roads coming in, about 45 mins of unpaved backroad before you even hit the property, and then its all off trail and thru a creek. It was rough in and out but we made it. All in all, we had a great trip, just a few "bumps" along the way.

Nice small campsite. Liked the fact that it’s off the main road and there is VERY little traffic. Lot’s of trees, very dark, very quite. Easy access to the creek and swimming area. You will see some folks coming to the swimming hole but it’s on the other side of the low water crossing. I will likely stay again when we are in the area. Thanks Sam!

This is the 2nd time I've stayed here and it is truly a beautiful gem of a place. I got to meet the hosts Sam and Michelle, and they are wonderful people. Sam is a wealth of information about the area that you will not find in any guides. Again I want to go back and see more of what I didn't last time. Thanks again for all your hard work in providing this place.

Awesome place. Outhouse was very clean and nice, and was sanitized before we arrived. There are some nice places by the river nearby, and the hike to the Kings River Falls is pleasant.

A beautiful October stay at Kings River Falls. This was out first HipCamp experience and we are looking forward to more! Sam and Michelle were quick to respond to our many questions. The property was exactly as they explained and were helpful in helping us pick the perfect spot. Lots of exploring around the area and a great way to unplug and enjoy time in the outdoors.

It was very clean. Nice and secluded. The water was very pretty. I would not recommend trying to get access the creek with a small/ regular sized car. There was a picnic table and fire ring at the site. The only con was that the outhouse near our site has a padlock on it and we could not use it.
