Welcome to our large Cottonwood campsite nestled close to an ever-evolving beaver dam. This campsite is spacious and cool, with the enormous tree's canopy providing all-day shade. A very low hanging branch makes this site especially fun for children of all ages.
Beavers along our stretch of the Verde River have become much more active in the past 10 years or so. From 2012 to around 2019, a large and industrious beaver dam had been erected just a few hundred feet from this campsite. This dam spanned the entire river, over 200ft wide by our estimation, and heavily diverted the river flow forming many winding streams.
Since then, around 2020, river flooding mostly destroyed this grand dam, but the beavers remain strong. Walking along the nearby Verde River you will find countless signs of new work to come, and a new beaver plan being put into place. On some days you will even see them working away along the riverbed.
Site is approx. 80 ft diameter centered around a massive Cottonwood tree with a trunk ~6ft in diameter. Includes fire pit and 6' picnic table. Within a short walk from the campsite are two professionally maintained port-a-potties, and a garden hose with clean, cool well water.

We had a wonderful time camping with our cousins and puppers. The campground is well kept and simply efficient. The spaces are lovely and the trees are absolutely glorious. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed our trip. It was actually really close to town but still felt as if we were really far out. Nice, big trees. Close to the river. The ground was surprisingly soft so it was easy to set up the tent. The soft ground did mean that everything got dirty quick. We wish we would have brought a broom to sweep the tent. We would definitely visit this place again. The only negative thing was the bathroom situation. They had 2 porta-potty’s about 300 ft away which wasn’t that far but those were the only 2 toilets we saw on the property and they got “dirty” quickly. We stayed Friday and Saturday night and they were gross by Saturday morning. We have 2 little boys and they we’re a bit apprehensive to #2 in there because the toilets were so used. Again, not a dealbreaker but an area to improve on for sure. Either more toilets or have the septic company come once a day or something.
Great spot, as described. Quiet and pretty. Also... dusty, so be prepared.
Had a great stay here in our van we are building out. The enormous cottonwood tree is incredibly beautiful. Great shade. Also pretty funny how it made our van look tiny. Only thing to be aware of is there were very high winds our first evening, so the site was very dusty.
Vicky provided a nice camping experience. The tree at the campsite provides amazing shade, and the Verde river is walking distance from the campsite. Water to wash hands and porta potties are provided. The only thing I would mention that was not so pleasant was that it was very windy and the campsite is wholly dust and white spores that float around constantly. That is just the nature of the area but if the sites had some gravel or something to counteract the dust, it would be even more amazing! But overall I would recommend staying here. Thanks for the camping.
